I'm certain this has been linked to before, but Armoured Acorn is a great site, and has a collection of Soviet Cold War Orbats some may enjoy. I used these when planning purchases for a Cold War project a couple of years ago. Soviet Cold War link 1984 Orbats link Also some great sections on camoflague and a massive collection of visual references for vehicle markings. Check it out if you haven't already. armouredacorn.com |

Sorry to say, but the Armoured Acorn TO&Es, while generally not an unreasonable approximation, are a often a good way off from being accurate about Soviet TO&Es. One notable example is the total absence of a machine gun platoon in every Soviet motor rifle company. Armored Acorn is more representative of Warsaw Pact countries' TO&Es. |
