Hi everyone. So I am a huge fan of Space 1999 and I have found some 1/1000 Eagles and Hawk MK IX's that I want to use for space combat. I am looking for your opinion for rules. Thanks |

Have you looked at War Rocket? |

War rocket is pretty non-newtonian movement. I would actually recommend Hard Vacuun. Great set of rules for reaction drive space combat. Also has ship design rules. |

There are the original Sky Galleons of Mars rules. I'm not sure if those are available outside the box set. There was another 1889 book called Ironclads & Ether Flyers, but I don't know if that was a supplement to Sky Galleons or a new set of rules. |

I would have thought that a WW2 airbattle game mechanic would work? Try something like Watch your six. Tony |

…original Sky Galleons of Mars rules… Available on WargameVault/RPGNow/DriveThruRpg/etc. as download. I'm a Full Thrust fanboy, and I think it can pretty much adapt to most any ship battle, but Hard Vacuum is darn good as well, with a totally different flavor. And, Fat Messiah still has copies! There was another 1889 book called Ironclads & Ether Flyers, but I don't know if that was a supplement to Sky Galleons or a new set of rules. Full rules from which Sky Galleons was adapted. But the OP was asking about Space 1999 (the schlocky TV show). |

I don't remember much combat, just cuts between pilot closeups, Moonbase Alpha, and eagles and hawks flying along… |

Huh, I read it as Space 1889 too. |

Full Thrust or Slag would work well. |

Aside from the one episode, there's not much ship-to-ship combat in the show, and even then there's not a lot of meat in the footage. There's not much source material to build from, but on the other hand, there's not a lot to restrict you either. That said, I think I'd go for something relatively crunchy and Newtonian. Eagles and Hawks are interplanetary ships, so most of the action would take place within a solar system, and probably in the close vicinity of one (or more) planets. I'd want a set of rules that takes those gravity wells into account somehow. Doug |

Thank you to all of you for helping me find a set of rules that will work for the Eagles and Hawks from SPACE 1999. I have received the miniatures from Shapeway and I will get to work on painting them up. I think I am going to start off with Full Thrust light and see how the rules play out. Then I can move up to the full rule set of Full Thrust if the guys at the club want to play more scenarios. Thanks again! |
