A fairly large battle without a panzer in sight. German infantry attempt to expand a bridgehead across the Escaut against stubborn British defence. Extensive write up at link Pictures: [URL=http://s156.photobucket.com/user/4167MGK/media/Scenario%2071/DSC_0094_zpsbbxjeowr.jpg.html]

Great stuff – what make are those British figures? I'm assuming they're 20mm so what size bases do you use? |

A huge fight and soo nice to see a virtually all infantry attack, with all my favourite 1/72 figures in action! I also love the fact that it is firmly based on an historical battle. Nicely done! |

Love it. I've got to do something with my 1/72 WWII collection; it is just sitting in boxes. |

Thanks for the kind comments team. Makes it worth the trouble of posting :) A few answers: The British figures above are Zvezda figures, specifically the British reconnaissance figures. link A ridiculously expensive way to buy a whole army but great for specialist teams. The reconnaissance set makes into excellent command figures in my opinion. The bases are 35mm x 25mm, about the smallest practical to get two prone men on. While I love the skill in some of the mini diorama larger bases they are unwieldy in some situations, especially urban fights. Small is good! All my scenarios are based on historical actions with fairly decent depth of research. You might have missed this thread: TMP link |

Wow! How many people gamed – or was this solo? Have only played CD once, got into Fire and Fury Battlefront WWII instead. Both seem great with just infantry and solid artillery rules. Did you make those terrain tiles yourself? |

Thanks Bruka Played this one solo over two days, with the occasional foray by my son who should have been doing his homework. The terrain tiles are all home made and I find they are very effective at providing the right balance between looks, realism and useability. One day, just before Hell freezes over, I will develop a web site with details of how to make my terrain etc |

Thanks for the info, those figures are very nice. |

mgk – love that whole approach, and the terrain is very interesting – stylised, but not unpleasantly so, and seems to work really well. The buildings look good. Zvezda troops – interesting. I need to explore them for possibilities. Great to see infantry at play. Makes a change from Tigers… |

Thanks Marc All terrain is a compromise between looks, playability and realism. I'm happy with my balance to get a reusable system that models actual terrain and yet still allows easy play with clear delineation. Zvezda is worth a look for specialist stands. Beautiful models. What was surprising for me is that their British troops have their gas masks fitted on their chests so really only usable for very early war up to 1941 at the latest. Good for me! |
