There's more on my engagement between a French brigade and a host of Spaniards on my blog. Please check it out.

I don't do Nappies any longer but I used to play them almost exclusively. Although we tried many, many, many rule sets we never tried General de Brigade. It looks like it's a 60:1 ratio set like Empire or Valmy to Waterloo, or am I getting it wrong? What makes them more interesting than other rules you've tried?

A great rule-set, however, it is 20:1. Battalions in line are like real ones…one has to be careful when maneuvering etc.

If I may humbly interject; GdeB is a good balance between realism (complex rules) and quick play rules.

IMHO they are the best Napoleonic rules out there. But you have to make the investment in terms of the large units (when compared to say Black Powder) and getting to know the rules well.
The 3rd edition GdB are a quantum leap from the 2nd edition, and they were good. For me the secret to the rules is the use of brigade orders and unit/brigade morale tests. Having the large units helps, and a brigade of cavalry in line looks truly impressive (if costly – I game in 28mm BTW).
However I don't mean to hijack the thread. Duke, your game looks very good, and your scenic table especially looks great. I will be keen to read more of your reports.

Invicta,
I agree with you that GdeB are the best Napoleonic rules.
Thank you for you kind compliments.
How did you come across my War of 1812 Blog and which game are you referring to?
Cheers

Due to my insane schedule, I solo game mostly, and for several years exclusively with GdBde. I've tried beaucoup rules since 1976, and GdBde has been the finest.

Nice game shown here.
