Hi all,

I'm an Australian, but my wife and I will be visiting the UK in September 2016. I'd like to go to a proper British wargaming show (which are quite different to Australian shows) but not sure which ones are good.

So far I'm looking at the other Partisan, Colours and Skirmish – can anyone recommend one of these (or another show for that matter)?

Thanks,

Andrew

I always enjoy Partizan (and you get a chance to try Wargame Developments "Coastal Command" participation game).

I'd go for Colours too if given the choice.

Surely it all depends on where in the UK you will be staying.

Border Reivers is in Gateshead, a 5 hour drive from London.
The Other Partizan is in Newark, 2.5 hours from London.
Colours is in Newbury, 1.5 hours from London.
Skirmish is in Sidcup, 1 hour from London.

However if you are staying elsewhere …

My choice would be Border Reivers but then I stay in Edinburgh.

If your thinking of going to colours Newbury has a couple of bad road works going on. First is by the Racecourse it self bridge from the industrial Estate is closed for a few more months causing problems on events days due to access I know this as I sit my office watching the traffic :) . 2nd road works on the 339 coming up from Basingstoke works are on an off an New ones are planed.
Hope this helps to plan your routes
Also to add the Berkshire County Show at Newbury Showground has a very big event on the weekend after colours an some of the local hotels for the area will put their prices up due to events prior to the show.
