Before tonight he was totally unknown to me. as was his $20,000,000 USD coronation in 1977. Complete with Napoleonic uniforms. If it wasn't true I wouldn't be here I suppose. link YouTube link
Finally, a use for all those left over 15mm Napoleonic figures. |

his son was at school in my classroom..i attended a French instead of an Italian School…among his bizarre behaviour he proposed to all of us classmates to go to Bangui with an Air Force plane and, i rembenber in his first day of school during a soccer match..when i ask him: please to go to play as a goalkeeper..(in those time many Africans and neither French where not very good players as today)he just answered me "appelez moi Monsieur le Prince" |

You mean EMPEROR Bokassa. Obsessed with Napoleon and totally nuts! Slaughtered 100 school children for not buying uniforms from one of his wife's companies. Also was repeatedly accused of cannibalism. Blew 20 million on his coronation which totally bankrupted the "Empire". |

Oh, I remember him… one of Africa's ruinous so-called "strong men" that have blighted that continent. |

the Central African Republic is truly one of the most tragic places on earth. This guy contributed to this among others. Terrible human being on whom the French put too much support. He was a sergeant I believe in the French Colonial forces? Hoped to emulate the career of Napoleon. |

Cynical French (Is that a tautology?) politicians considered Emperor Bokassa a safe and sure puppet. Not the first time a lunatic ruler was considered such. Won't be the last. |
