Those are outstanding! The colors are soft and muted as appropriate for 1/1200 but easily visible. Not easy to balance between these two competing attributes. The rigging and basing are beyond my comprehension and abilities. Thanks for sharing your exquisite work. |

Absolutely beautiful work Julian! I'm curious, do you paint on the planking on the sides, or do you engrave the models with a knife? |

Is the Duguay Trouin the Indiaman captured by Admiral Sercey at Bencoolen or one of the other DTs that appeared during the revolutionary war? |

The Duguay-Trouin, was a French ship of 74 guns line built in 1800 in Rochefort, which received its name in honor of René Duguay-Trouin; Was the second of a total of 9 ships carry that name in the French navy. In the battle of Trafalgar he was commanded by Captain Claude Touffet. He was captured by the British, who gave it the new name of HMS Implacable, becoming the first of the three vessels has carried that name in the Royal Navy. In 1949, the English tried to return to France it impossible to keep together the HMS Victory, but the French government refused to accept it, and to personalities of both powers was sunk in the English Channel. Thank you Julian, I thought she looked a little large for the 800 ton Indiaman 'Princess Royal'. link If you were doing that the model would be Langton's '40 gun troop transport' NB40… Nice ships. |
