Looking for a good source of decals for aircraft in 1/144. I'm in the process of assembling/painting some US planes for WW2 and I don't trust myself to attempt painting invasion stripes by hand. Google search obviously brings back lots of results, with most of it being 1/285 for games like CY6. I've seen I-94 Enterprises has some WW2 era stars, but I haven't seen any invasion stripes in any of the scans I've seen. |

I do " invasion stripes" with Tamiya masking tape and spray paint. |

Funny thing. D-Day invasion stripes were hurriedly slapped on the planes the night before the invasion, and weren't a very neat job at all. In this case you can for sure get away with doing your own. |

Winston, I was actually pondering trying that. As I've already got the plane assembled, base coated, and the windows done, will masking tape have any effect on cured paint without any sealer coats on it? |

You could give this guy a try. He rather specialises in 1/144 scale aircraft and has invasion stripes in there somewhere.stores.ebay.com/1144direct |

TSD101, contact me at David.Jackson2@ec.gc.ca I have 1/144 decals for most WWII nations (but sadly, no invasion stripes) |

I use a masking tape made for modeler spray paint and/or airbrushing. I did them before painting. Here is how I did a 15mm Typhoon. In each case I left the tape in place while I continued. First black. Mask off the black stripes. Spray white. Mask off the white square. Spray gray. I should have then masked off gray splotches and then finished off with OD. But I removed all the tape to see how it worked. It worked fine. Tamiya masking tape will not harm already painted surfaces. |
