Do you do skirmish gaming with smaller scaled miniatures? Because "small" is obviously subjective, I would suggest a measurement that anything below 25mm is "small," and 25mm and larger scales are "big." (a) Yes. Please specify scale (22mm, 20mm, 15mm, 6mm etc.) (b) No. I only do skirmish games in larger scales. Please specify scale (25mm, 28mm, 40mm, etc.) |

What's a skirmish game? Is it control of a single figure, single based figures, a small number of teams, or something else.. I have played skirmishes of various sorts in six mil, fifteen mil, twenty mil, twenty five and twenty eight mil, and larger scales.. I even played a room to room clearance game of cqb with five inch toy action figures.. |

a) 15mm. I've found this is ideal for games like Force on Force, Muskets and Tomahawk etc. |

Yes. I do SF skirmishing in 15mm |

Yes. Land: I have played with 6mm and 15 mm (along with the usual suspects of 25mm and 28mm of course.) Aerial (my preference) have used 6mm and 3mm. Naval I have used 1:6K (whatever "mm" that is…) Edit: according to TMP link it is .27mm) |

What's a skirmish game? IMHO it's a game in which 1 figure represents 1 man. |

I have used 15mm Greeks and Persians on galleys. They seemed tiny for skirmish gaming. My TSATF colonials are almost all "true 25mm". My AWI skirmish are 28mm or 40mm. |

(a) I occasionally play both Bolt Action and Song of Drums and Tomahawks in 15mm and they work just fine. LT |

Mostly 15s, but I have done it in 6, because the cost of the vehicles required for the battle would have been prohibitive in 15. |

I really wish gamers would standardize on scale instead of size like railroaders. |
Dynaman8789 | 20 Aug 2015 10:44 a.m. PST |
Yes, lots of time periods, 6mm |

One guy in our club does single based skirmish gaming in true 25mm (old Ral Partha) and I do it in 28mm. 15mm to my eye is too small and defeats part of the point of skirmish gaming. |

Currently 15mm, 20mm, and 28mm. Used to do 6mm, but have given that up. |

40mm for large battles all the way down to skirmish games. |

We do ACW and Indian war skirmishes in 15mm, still use some stands with multiple figs though. We have done WWII skirmish in 15mm, but have gone to 28mm in recent years. |
Mako11 | 20 Aug 2015 7:49 p.m. PST |
Yes, and larger battles too. |
Martin Rapier | 20 Aug 2015 11:16 p.m. PST |
I've done skirmish games with 6, 15 and 20mm figures. 6mm means you can use true ground scale, 12" = 100yards. |

15mm is currently our default scale for Force on Force (Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan) or Skirmish Sangin. Like a number of others I am looking to do Musket and Tomahawk in 15mm. |
