Hey all.

My son has expressed an interest in doing some sci fi gaming. Not really my thing, so wanted to ask what the best forum is out there for sci fi gamers so I can get up to speed, and hopefully find some folks selling off some of their stuff.

Not sure if there's a central place, but any suggestions on where to visit other than TMP for discussions on rules, figures, etc.

Help appreciated.

What kind of Sci-Fi? Miniature starships? 15mm figures/ground battles? Trek? Star Wars? Other?

If he's into starship combat, try this forum:

star-ranger.com/forum

It isn't as busy as it used to be, but there are still quite a few good discussions there.

Outside of here and Star Ranger, all the scifi sites I know about are dedicated to a specific setting or rules set (or both).

So there are a lot of 40k sites out there, a few Epic40k or Epic:Armageddon sites, a few sites that have sections for both, but very few sites that have more than one setting.

If your son likes squad-per-side action like the XCom video games, then I'd recommend taking a look at Infinity the game. Rules are free to download from infinitythegame.com/archive.php , as are all the other pieces you need (not counting minis).

If he's more into platoon to company per side, check out Tomorrow's War from Ambush Alley games. You might be pushing it with a company per side, depending on how big your company is.

Thanks for the suggestions. platoon sized is more his thing, so it's likely Tomorrow's War. Not Starship stuff. Future space armies vs. all kinds of aliens. That kinda thing.

Appreciate the help.

Lead Adventure is a pretty laid back and friendly place for all kinds of miniature gaming discussion. It's the only place I log on to regularly these days, aside of TMP:
