Remembering Marx WOW Figures

If you were a kid in the 1960s who loved history and toy soldiers, you probably had a WOW figure!

Finally finished some of these figures that I've held onto for years. Always heard people talk about how bad the horses looked. I don't think they look bad at all unless you don't put the riders on. They were made to fit figures as opposed to making the figures fit the horse. So the saddle is very low to accomodate the full figures. I love these figures. I've got lots more of the originals to paint yet!

Agreed! These cavalry look good.
I always enjoyed Alsop's sculpting style.

Me too! Still think his 15mm ACW figures were some of the best ever!

I like your choice of a butternut shade. Lately I try to paint my rebs in a color range that looks like cheap grey dye faded to that dusty tan, rather than in greys and browns.

I have to agree Dave was a highly talented sculptor, and produced some of the finest figures in both 15/18 mm and 25/28 mm ranges! His ability to produce even the most subtle changes in heads and action pose variations was second to none at least in my book! His loss was all too soon, and a real shame! However, he left a legacy in various periods of figures that many of us covet and cherish to this day! We were blessed to have him if even for a short while!

They look great.

But do you think the horses look bad at all? I think they look good! Very animated!

I customized the falling horse and cavalryman and made a dead horse also.
I've got about 50 plus cavalry to paint yet. I'll get around to it one day and the other 200 plus infantry. My private collection that I'll never part with!

Good characterful figures and a really nice paint job to complement them!
