Great looking station--cant wait to see completed model.

whitphoto15 Aug 2015 7:33 p.m. PST

Not enough greebles….

Mako1115 Aug 2015 7:40 p.m. PST

Looks pretty good.

I'm in the "less is more" greeblies camp.

It's Star Wars, so more greeblies are mandatory… evil grin

Nicely done so far! Since you're making use of bottle caps, you might want to look at the ones that come on fruit juice (Tropicana, etc.) … they have some very interesting shapes on the sides. I've seen them (here) used to make some pretty impressive fantasy towers.

I now this is just the start of the base hull and a whole hours work making details/greebles :) I might have some time tonight to add more bits and finish the hull. :) I need more unused model kit bits…… I even have a new tool coming to cut grooves in the plastic to make panels

Thanks all

I even have a new tool coming…

Yeah, but they work better BEFORE you assemble… ;->=

Well, you can 'groove' the pieces you add on top, I suppose. Must say, great start so far.

AND, you're in an obvious hurry, adding gun emplacements before other greebling.

ones that come on fruit juice (Tropicana, etc.) …

The ones with psuedo-Gothic arches? Wouldn't that be more BFG?

"I even have a new tool coming to cut grooves in the plastic to make panels".

What's it called, and who sells them?

So it's true. Taco Bell did win the fast food wars.

Thanks for the link to the tool, Ron.

I really appreciate it.

There's one brand that has the gothic arches, but there's also another with more rectangular openings. I don't remember which is which, but a trip to the juice aisle should sort it out. I have a stack of both socked away for eventual projects.

Yeah, I've a few in the 'recycle bin.'

Punter's note: Sometimes piles of waiting greebles can be hidden in plain sight of She Who Must Be Obeyed as socially responsible.

However, always thought they were a bit more pansy-styled. Little dishsoap top as microscaled tower…

Doug

Edit: DO tell how the panel-scriber works out; I've been eyeing it FOREVER in MicroMart.

Ron W DuBray20 Aug 2015 10:02 a.m. PST

first off on the panel scriber: if you have a curved dental tool make your own, just cut the point back a bit and stone or file a cutting edge on it ( that is what Micromart did) I have also found if you first cut your lines with a knife the scribler will follow the line but is all over without a cut line.

Now new work done. I build a base yesterday here is a photo and a ship for scale. I also cut out a pile of bits and parts but did not attack them. So more later

But mostly on the underside.

<qfirst off on the panel scriber:…>

You're a prince! Not sure I can do the make-my-own, but have half-broken dentist tools to try. Excellent point on the pre-scrib, as well.

Thanks!
