Our gaming group regularly plays Piquet miniatures games with various historical supplements for the Seven Years War, Mexican-American War, Maximilian Affair, World War I, Piracy, and other periods. My collection of troops for the Mexican-American War includes figures for Mexican irregulars from Musket Miniatures in civilian type clothes that are well suited to any period from the early 1800s up through the Cristero Rebellion in the late 1920s, and I have enough figures to field about a dozen "units" of irregulars from this collection. Recently we have been discussing the prospects for games on the Mexican Revolution from 1910-1920 and extending the period through the Cristero Rebellion. We probably have enough 15mm irregulars, although it never hurts to have more! And we would like to have a whole lot of 15mm Federales, Rurales, revolutionaries of several factions, Yaquis, along with a few US Army, Navy, and Marines, all in poses and uniforms with the variety of weapons so well illustrated in Osprey's Elite book: The Mexican Revolution 1910-20. During this the Centennial decade of the Mexican Revolution, we are hopeful of finding suitable 15mm figures for the Revolution so that we can stage campaigns and battles of this very important and under-gamed period. Does anyone have suggestions on sources for available 15mm MR figures or prospective new lines that may be coming out soon? |

For the Maximillian Adventure in the later stages the Mexican Army of the North was almost totally equipped with US Army surplus kit including uniform jackets and forage caps For the Mexican Revolution not so sure – for those Federale units in sun helmets I think classical Brits would work |

You can put a call out to see if anyone has any old Frontier figures they want to part with. Also look at Minifigs and Peter Pig to see if they have anything you can use. |

I used Freikorp15's Spanish American War range – both Spanish & American – lot's of proxies there for Regulars plus they have US Marines and Sailors link I also used Steve Cooper's Chinese Warlord troops – now OOP – for Regulars in Peaked cap – loads of bandoliers and no backpacks No-one does US troops in Montana hats although Peter Pig do heads so I did head swaps with PP's US Cavalry I never found anything suitable for regulars in the Saumur kepi although PP now do French Kepi heads For irregular troops I used mainly PP Mexicans |

Some of the Freikorps US SAW figures are just about acceptable for 1915 onwards Constitutionalists, and the Cubans could be mixed with other figures as Zapatistas. As Shedman says, if you can find them a couple of the codes in Mr Cooper's Chinese Warlord range are nearly all that's available as stand-ins for Federales, and you could modify them with those PP kepi heads for a more distinctively Mexican look. Eureka also has a Chinese range, part Warlord, part Chinese Civil War, amongst which there might be a usable pose or two for added variety. You just have to convince Nic to make up separate packs. |
