My most recent set and my first metal set of 28mm. It was tough keeping the paint from chipping off these but I'd love to hear what you guys think!

Nice work.

Chipping? I've never had that, whether I prime with gesso (usually), spray paint (some times) or thinned black paint. Finish with 2 or 3 coats of spray dull coat.

Nice. Just a silly rude comment though. Have you got some flock on one of the guys belt – the guy on the right looks hairy around the midriff.

But nice painting. I need to read you blog to find out more about your experience. It seems you are new or returning to the hobby, which is always interesting reading

I love to see artillery pieces to this standard. They stand alone as infantry or cavalry bases cannot.

Really good.

Hint. Next time. Rammer/spongeman always on the right of the gun, in any army. Loader on left facing forward. Everyone, always, gets it wrong…odd. 50% chance which side he goes if random, but somehow……..

Thanks everyone! Very encouraging comments :)

Extra Crispy – I only gave them the 1 coat of spray primer, do you usually do more? That might be it!

Marc – Not rude at all, I noticed it after I posted the pictures, managed to get it off with a pair of tweezers though!

and thanks Deadhead! I initially didn't think I would be bothered too much by historical accuracy, but the more I've painted it's become a bit of a bug bear of mine! So I'll bear that in mind when I get my next set of guns :)

Historical accuracy will drive you mad. Where do you put the chap who fires the thing? Ah, depends on his nationality!

Do you know how many folk it took to serve a 12pdr? Manufacturers show 4 maximum and, let's face it, it looks right. Then, you think, why do Perrys do the hangers on assisting? The ammo resupply, the moving of the gun after every recoil……..

What I love is the occasional modelling of the gun, with the loader and the spongeman at work down the barrel, whilst some lunatic with an incandescent match is about to fire the wretched thing!

Meant to say how good your dark blue looks….probably even better in natural light. Dark, really dark, with great highlights. I am still struggling with that.
