Euro cup and Dad's Army. 2016 is looking pretty good already. |

1944 – hardly the edge of defeat in 1944. 1940 maybe. I am happy with the original – why remake it? |

I'm cautiously optimistic, except that the trailer starts with "In 1944, on the brink of defeat…" |

I had high hopes for this, but now, if they can't even get the date right. |

They probably need to get the Americans in, for the US distribution. |

Why set it in 1944? Part of the humor in Dad's Army comes from them *actually being* the last line of defense. The bit with Godfrey in his South Seas camoflage is very good though. |

"In 1944, on the brink of defeat…" Script must have been done by the writers for The History[sic] Channel. I wonder if it will include Alien/Nazi hybrids and their Flying Saucers? |

Trailer looks ok – 1944 is a bit silly for the "darkest days of the war". But- if it's a one-shot film they could get to 1945 and the poignant bit of script from the original where in the very last episode the main characters affirm that they'd have stood firm, and died, to stop an invasion. YouTube link about 33minutes in |

Or maybe the battle of Godfrey's cottage – where the Platoon think the Germans have landed – and end up chasing each other. YouTube link Fortunately Frasier's aim with the Lewis gun isn't so great… |

Oh – nice: Ian Lavender has a cameo appearance. Good Egg. link And Frank Williams is STILL the vicar ! |

Not interested a bit. Pass, pass, pass. The only redeeming quality would be Catherine Z-J. |

Wasn't it some bloke called Brian who said "judge not lest you be judged"? |

Looks really poor, they should have just gone with new faces, not tried (and failed) to match the original cast faces. Yeah, 1944 also looks to be a warning of the quality of 'research', maybe they need to send in the 'calvary'. |

Might have been funnier if they'd put the boot on the other foot and made them Volksturm. Same number of characters with the same character traits. |

Apparently it being 1944 is part of the plot – it's about them recounting their efforts before disbanding, or something. No idea about the Brink of defeat thing though. |

Perhaps it's their darkest hour, not Britain's – facing being stood down. The Wikipedia mentions their morale being low, so perhaps they fed up of rounding up stray cattle not enemy Pilots. Or nuns. I did find a reference to filming on a beach with German soldiers sheltering behind tank obstacles, so perhaps it's a bit of an eagle has landed after a failed D-Day. If this was a new concept, the cast look like a good fit to the roles and if you were going to do the film, the cast do catch the old actors/roles but I'm just not convinced it needed to be done. |

Assuming the purpose of a trailer is to make me want to see the film, it failed. |
