I guess we have all been over-buying in this special year, when it comes to books on Waterloo. I know I have. And we have certainly been spoilt for choice. But when I recently ordered a Waterloo stamp set, which I promised myself, even though I'm not a stamp collector (well, it is 2015) I noticed other unusual items available, such as gold plated coins and mugs. It made me wonder what unusual Waterloo items others may have acquired, or if I'm the only one hooked? So far I have brought far too many Waterloo Books. A Waterloo Graphic novel(in English). A Waterloo Commando comic And a Waterloo stamp set. Anyone else got the bug? |

No. This battle holds no interest for me. It's a knife fight in a phone booth. Meh. |

Bought Waterloo beer and commemorative mug at re-enactment beer tent. Got a bottle of the Mont St. Jean Waterloo beer at the museum only to realize I had to drink it before getting on the plane! Also bought a hat and a couple of battlefield guides. |

Not souvenirs, but bought and painted Nassau infantry so I could throw a 200th anniversary game that took a second week to complete. The Prussians crushed my right flank before Wellington was beaten. I dunno, Shiloh is another knife fight in a phone booth and a fun scenario. |

Lots of books. Most better than expected, despite daft titles (The Lie at the Heart of and the Soult was a traitor both proved far better than I had imagined). Anything by Glover, O'Keefe, Field or Clayton was superb. Disappointing (very) was Lipscombe's Decisive Victory. I did not request my free medals. The Commando comic was hilarious! The shame is 2016, we will see even less new about the 100 Days (obviously). Will we now lapse into a famine after the "feast" for a generation? Maybe I will have to accept that the Napoleonic Wars did start before Boney sailed from Elba?????????? |

deadhead I would not bank on a Napoleonic drought after this year. We might very well be surprised. Yes, there might not be much on Waterloo appearing in 2016 but by then it will be ever so much last year. Best to enjoy this special year while it lasts. |

Navy Fower Wun Seven I was thinking of getting a Waterloo T-shirt (although I'd much prefer an Austerlitz or Rivoli one), but I felt I would soon get fed up explaining to people that I was wearing it in celebration of a great Napoleonic battle and not in memory of the pop group ABBA. LOL |

My Waterloo stamps set just arrived and very nice they look too and well protected. However, as nice as they are, they won't get me into stamp collecting. And I think the Post Office have missed an opportunity here. I think they should have considered extending the individual soldier stamps. Besides the six rectangle stamps in the set which display various scenes from the battle, the four smaller stamps depict a French Imperial Guard Grenadier, a Gordon Highlander, a soldier from the King's German Legion and a Prussian infantryman. I'm sure had they done a collection showing various other soldiers from both sides, there would have been quite a bit of interest. |
