Druzhina, not sure is this is your thing, but did you see the link in an earlier post to the Bodlean Library online page.

It has links to Ipollito Rosellinis Egyptian Sketches from the 1830's showing early Egyptian troops and their enemies.

Not sure if you're a strictly Dark Ages/Middle Ages specialist.
