Last spring I got some Late Macedonian arrow-slingers sculpted (Kestrophedrone), and now Menhir has sculpted a few more figures. This time it is Gastraphetes (belly bow). It was the earliest artillery in Europe and an early kind of Catapults. More information: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastraphetes
The heads are separete.

Will they be produced? I hope so. I will start a Kickstarter campaign on the 1 of September and it is called "Macedonian Miniatures". The Kickstarter campaign will offer both the Gastraphetes and the Kestrophedrone. And maybe a third rare Macedonian troop type (clue: can be found in a DBA armylist).
You can follow my progress on Facebook: facebook.com/Kestrophedrone

Height of the figures?

Is it known how the Greeks used these, like in the field, seige situations only, or both?

The hands look a bit oversized (on the FB pics of other minis too). Is there a chance that these become more natural before the KS?

I always forget to include scale: 28mm. I will take some comparison picture with other manufacturers.

We don't know much about the Gastraphetes, but mostly in sieges. But Alexander used siege weapons in at least two field battles (Pelium and Jaxartes). And his dad also meet artillery in a field battle (the first battle against Onomarchos), maybe he had some too.

Yes, hands is a difficult chapter. I take a look at it.

I remember, long, long ago, when WRG ruled the gaming world – or at least the Ancients part of it – and 4th edition was just a twinkle in Phil Barkers eyes, the society of ancients spent some time indulging in internecine blood letting over these beasts.

Hmmm… I recall the only thing surpassing it in the days of snail mail flame wars was the use/abuse of war chariots and exactly what was a Rhomphaia, how was it spelt, who used it and why on earth would they use it.

Nice to see an item of 'niche' weaponry making an appearance.

I've been looking for these for ages – need some for my Syracuscans. Have been putting off scratch building in the hope someone produces them!

Don't need too many but a couple of 'batteries' would be great! Maybe some ruined rock walls to rest them on?

Will keep an eye on progress.
