What is your favorite WWII Tank?

Lets leave self-propelled guns and tank hunters out of this for now.

The vehicle has to have tracks and a Turret.

Aesthetically, I like the Crusader, though the Cromwell is a very close second.

Hmmm, probably have to go with the Panther A.

Of course, the Tiger I and Tiger II Henschel get honorable mentions as well.

M26 for the Americans.

T-34/85 for the Russians.

Cromwell VII for the British (just really like the looks of it, even though the Firefly seems like an obvious choice).

Yea, Panther A, since it is such a nice, balanced design.

Churchill MkVII – always liked it. Fond memories as a 12 year old assembling the Airfix kit and they have/had a Churchill on display at the Imperial War Museum London.

M3 Stuart, early with the side sponson .30 cals still mounted. Fast, small, gyrostabilised, canister rounds-what's not to like?

Or a Pz III with US, Brit and Russian mods.

Too many to choose just one.

Sherman – kinda ugly but a good design.
Panther – All around lovely design
T34 – If I *HAD* to choose this would win, warhorse of a tank that showed the way of the future.
Char B1 – Just plain cool.

PzIV or Matilda II for me…

I like big boxy turrets that look like tool sheds. Thus some love here for the KV-2 and Challenger. Oh sure the Cromwell has a boxy turret, but the Challenger is a vast improvement.

We did this poll a while back.
My vote is still for the T-35 with the 5 turrets, high profile, slow movement, and worthless guns.

The Jagdpanther and the Elefant for me. Not really because they were the "best" tanks, which they emphatically weren't (the second being a downright awful contraption, particularly for the men inside), but because they look so imposing.

For all round performance it would have to be the T-34 or the Panther.

But then I have a fondness for Ha-Gos as well. Useless bits of tin against anything more than a machine gun, but still…

t-34/85 a well rounded proven tank. in all time periods.

I have to go with the Soviet JS types – they just look brutal and nasty.

Honorable mention goes to the PZ II. Always loved the look of that one even if it's basically recon.

I will cheerfully own to loving useless tanks: T-26, Matilda I, m11-39. But for all-around plays every game it has to the pzkw III.

Always like the weird ones – Matilda 1, most of the Russian or Japanese lights, especially the amphibious ones.

Based purely on looks and underdog appreciation, I am going to say the Crusader.

Though loved one of my first models – the Lee/Grant – painted up in Western Desert Scheme

I discovered military history through reading Brazen Chariots and so I will always have a soft spot for Honeys with the Crusader II a close second. Something fatally romantic about both of those vehicles.
