"Sometimes a single mortar tube doesn't quite do it. That's where things like the Nebelwerfer come in (it's from WWII. Also, makes a good addition to a snowball fight. I.E. – "Every good snowball fight needs some werfed Nebels."). In the grim dark of the 41st millennium, that sort of technology continues on with the Rapier Quad Mortar. Also, sometimes a storm bolter just isn't good enough and you want your Rhino or other Space Marine tank to get some more firepower. As such, you can get some different pintle-mounted weapons on there.

With both of these, Forge World has your back. They are now taking orders for both of these sets. They will begin to ship out next week. Beware the enemies of man, some firepower is headed your way."

Why the hell is an artillery crew in full plate armor?

Counter battery fire? Hostile/toxic environmental conditions were the sealed suit is a requirement?

Of course the real answer is "why not?"

These are pretty, but I've got two original first edition thud guns I use with my Heresy army. On the other hand these would be nice for those who have not been playing this sill game since 1989 like I have….

Powered exoskeletons, so that the crew can lift the 335lb 200mm shells. evil grin

What's cool about this is that it bares no resemblance to the Solar Auxilia's Rapier Quad Mortar:

But instead inexplicably (Well, there is a theory that FW wanted to do a Thunderfire Cannon but Head Office said no.) mounts a Thunderfire Cannon:

Which has gone down very well in many circles as the Thunderfire was regarded as a godawful miniature to assemble even before they switched it to Failca$t.

As for them wearing full plate, this isn't really true artillery, more of an infantry support gun – it would certainly be operating close enough to the lines to merit armour I think.
