I have posted this past week a number of barbarian tribes to face Rome in Britain.

Picts – link

Caledones – link
Brigantes – link

Next week, the Carpi and Later Moors.

I prefer the HotT version of Brigantes – collarless shirt armour and cloth cap helmets with a unit of whippets and a section of suicide pigeons.

Inspired by the "Empire" novels by Riches, I have Vixens with mastiff for DBA use (Ps) and swarms of angry bee for HOTT, but suicide pigeons maybe interesting.

Nicely done armies – fodder for those stalwart sons of Imperial Rome!

I've been working on re-doing my Picts to seem more appropriate for the fast pike classification they now receive. They did well in their last outings against the Romans.

Of course, Seneca says that the Brigantes have blue shields, "caeruleos scuta Brigantas".

Sorry, just thought I'd put that in to annoy you :-)

GurKhan,

Ha, ha, no worries there.

Seneca wrote at a time when the British still revered their two-wheeled, two horse powered Cadillac as the cat's meow.

However, Tacitus does mention a later revolt as nearly been won by a female leader in addition to the revolt of 155 – 157 AD.

Knowing women and their penchant for colour, I am not so sure "blue" would have remained in fashion long. (still smiling).

Cheers,
