Can anyone tell me if there is an online vendor that sells hexed maps for aerial gaming or, more preferably, someone who has made their own map(s) and wouldn't mind sharing? I really want a clear blue map. I think a map with terrain would take away from the focus of the mini's, but that's my opinion and I'm open to suggestions. I've read that people will "Google Map" something and get that printed out, but I'm not sure that's for me (honestly, I have no idea how to do this) Thanks |

You can make them using hex templates, printed on a piece of paper/cardboard (cardboard is better). Obviously, larger hexes are easier, since you need fewer hexes per mat. I recommend 3" – 4" hexes. You just align the hex templates, and just put three little hash-marks (I recommend with a pencil), where they intersect. That way you don't have to worry about your alignment being perfect. Then, if desired, you can go back and mark these points in either another blue, or white color, with a paint-pen, magic marker, etc.. If you want 1.5" or 2" hexes, I recommend buying a mat instead of trying to make one. |

You can pretty easily buy light blue paper at the office supply store, then google "printable hex paper" or similar and then print the hexes on the light blue paper. Go wild with some white acrylic paint for clouds if you like. For added sturdiness, you can then glue the paper onto some cardboard. That's the absolute cheapest, I think. |

Nice ideas I was going to print some Axis & Allies maps and paste/glue then to foam board, but I'm really wanting a "blue sky" look :) |

Monday Knight Productions has pretty cheap felt mats with hexes, both plain blue and sky. |

If you want a clear blue 'map' without any terrain, what makes it a map? Hotz will sell you a hex felt cloth. Litko will sell you a template to make you own hexes. Buy a blue sheet or roll of felt and away you go. Alternatively your action could be above the cloud base so a white sheet or felt would do fine as well. |

Of course, it goes without saying that hex-less rules would be far easier. |

I recently blue hexed my 12 x 6 table using a template, pen and steel rule. It was mind numbingly tedious, but the result was worth it, and cheap. I use mine for sea. I posted about it here: link
