Hi all, After several years playing SoBH and now Fightin' Funghi, I've for the first time used a model with the Tough rule, and as I said in primary school, I don't get it. I understand that a tripling the combat result is a kill rather than a gruesome kill, and doubling is a wound. Later it says "Note that a Tough model does not fall when he is doubled by the opponent. When a Tough model is already fallen and receives the killing blow…" Is this to say that if the opponent doubles the tough model's combat result with an even die the tough model isn't knocked down? Does it recoil on an odd? And if it doesn't fall in combat, under what circumstances can it be already fallen? What about if beaten but not by double? Is it here that the normal recoil and knocked down rules apply? Many thanks! |

Not really an expert, but I think you got a bit mixed up. Normally, if you double your opponent, the opponent is out of action (dies), so whether it falls prone or not does not matter. If you double a "Tough" figure, the figure takes a "wound" instead –it does not fall. If you beat a "Tough" figure with an even dice, it falls prone as normal. If you beat a "Tough" figure with an odd dice, it recoils as normal. If you triple a "Tough" figure, treat as a normal kill and not a "Gruesome" kill. |

Thanks tansteel. I think that clarifies it. On reflection, I think where a rule presents an exception to the basic mechanics, it only tells you what changes without belabouring what is preserved. Your interpretation thus fits perfectly. |
