I guess I might sound a bit petty here and I apologise in advance if I do, but had they put a green cloth over the table and then placed the mass of miniatures on it, that would have made such a great image even greater and prevented the table reflection problem? It is just a thought and it is still very impressive. |

Rather nice table though :) |

That is – a lot of cuirassiers! Very impressive |

looking at pic #2, those chaps look like old Airfix figures. really impressive then. |

See the blog and he tells you the many origins of these figures. I agree entirely that to get Airfix cuirassiers to look this good is quite an achievement. Must be some of the worst 1/72 figures they ever did. Maybe the original German Infantry WWII compete? ……….but that was decades earlier! |

Happy you enjoyed it boys!. (smile) Amicalement Armand |

Even Airfix look good en masse. Quantity really does have its own quality |
deadhead | 06 Aug 2015 1:36 p.m. PST |
Sheer profundity. "Never mind the quality, feel the width." Even Airfix? Can you ever forgive them for the cuirassier crouching behind his dead horse? I had dozens of them. The horse was some use, but nearer 15/18mm than 20 mm scale. The kettledrummer of British Hussars? The French infantryman carrying his wounded mate? The crawling British Line Infantry. The French Limber with two small ponies. Every box contained figures that were absolutely useless. (OK there were exceptions eg RHA). At their best, they were brilliant. But even in the 1970s I cursed them for inconsistencies in sculpting, moulding, daft poses and esp scale |

Deadhead And yet these days, when so many rules use dead or wounded markers, those same figure suddenly come in very useful [although agreed on the kettle drummer, the french limbers etc … :-)] But that's the "price" of using plastics – some of the poses are just "throw away" – but as they cost pennies I can live with that Gary |

Deadly, yep, agree with bro there, the wounded cavalry (hussar and cuirsassier don't forget) are great casulaty markers. Kettledrummer – put him in teh Fr ench chasseur bands and then we have a page out of Lilian and Fred. Wounded guys being carried – amrkers again, and add a degree of interest to a rear echelon base. The limber – ok, that one was pants Luckily though, most ranges have been superseded by infinitely better figures – I am lucky to be living through the golden age of soft plastic 1/72, supported by the various 1/72 metal guys from the continent. |

casualty markers…of course nothing goes to waste! I had forgotten even the hussars had a figure crouching behind his horse (about twice the size of the cuirassier in the same pose |

My typing is getting worse I see. Apologies And yes, the hussars were big Interesting factoid. The French cavalry were to be lancers. If you look at the artwork you can see one of the lances is still showing |

I used the Kettledrummer for my Muslim Cavalry units changing their heads… (smile). Amicalement Armand |

That is one serious dining room -same colour on the walls as mine but there the similarity ends. |

Pure chance I scanned further down through generalpicton's blog…….. Napoleon's Carriage….that is the best version I have ever seen and I know! I researched this +++ and attempted my own scratchbuilt version. I still plan to do the extant Malmaison version. But the finish of this is superb. Painting the stripes on the wheel rims for example…I tried that……for a few minutes! That coach is worth a new topic alone. I've not seen it shown here. Is it the Frank Germerhaus model in 1/72? |
