"The 3rd and final Star trek Axanar Indiegogo campaign is going strong! They have bought a studio (for this movie and the upcoming sequels) are hard at work building sets, designing props, makeup, etc. This last campaign is basically so they can pay the actors SAG minimum wages and pay all the workers union min wages to finish construction and pay for the special effects. They filmed the first scene and it's glorious…I can't wait to see more!"

What did the first 2 campaigns accomplish? |

Not sure, but perhaps several fan made movies which can be seen on Youtube. I've watched a couple, and they are quite good. |

I'm a supporter. If I understand correctly, the first two campaigns served to fund the construction of the studio and sets as well as production of the ~30 minute "Prelude to Axanar" movie, which is actually pretty good. The current campaign is intended to fund the actual production of the feature length movie. I honestly got into it as I'd heard Ad Adstra Games was working with them to produce an Axanar-based supplement for Squadron Strike. Regards, Scott Chisholm |

yeah, this campaign has confused me. They seem to be constantly asking for more money and using different sites (kickstarter and indiegogo) to get it. I think one was for the teaser trailer and one is for the series… but i could be totally wrong. |

I am a contributor to all three of the campaigns so far. The first was to produce the 21 minute "short" Prelude to Axanar as a proof of concept. The second was to raise money for the rental of a sound stage and production facilities but thanks to the involvement of George Takei they raised enough money to buy a sound stage and start their own production company. The third is to fund post production of the movie which has already begun filming. The plan is to break the movie into 4 chapters which each costing a set amount to produce and the initial goal of the third campaign is to fund the first chapter with any extra raised going toward the second chapter and so on. The entire movie will then be released once all four chapters are filmed, funded and produced. It is really a great project and I am so looking forward to the finished product. I urge any other Star Trek fans here to contribute as it really looks good and we must Save The Federation! Tom D |

Yep, two companies will be producing miniatures as backer rewards and Ad Astra Games will produce Squadron Strike: Axanar with all of the ships (compatible with all other Squadron Strike ships--if you want bizarre Traveller vs. Star Trek battles, go for it). |

Bill, it says: Q: Wait, you are asking for more money? What about the $ 638,000 you raises last year.A: As we clearly stated in that Kickstarter, that money was 1) To secure a warehouse for a year $125,000 USD, 2) Renovate it to be a sound stage $50,000 USD, 3) Build sets $100,000 USD, 4) Pre-production $50,000. USD We have done all those things, but they have all wound up costing more than planned. PLUS we had to hire a full time person just to handle the 10,000 donors we wound up with. EVERYTHING costs more when you are a professional production and not a fan film. I hope this will be really good. John T |

I love the Prelude to Axanar. I haven't been able to donate yet but hope to in the near future. A great project. Watch here – YouTube link Sorry had to go watch it again! |
