Hi friends,

I am tempted to buy some 15mm MJ Miniatures ACW figures, in order to mix them with the 15mm Eureka/Battle Honors ACW War figures that I already own. The photos of the marching 15mm Confederate and Union infantry figures on MJ Miniatures' web site generally look pretty good, except some of the guys' rifles look roughly cast.

If anyone owns any of these figures, and has taken a stab at cleaning them up and painting them, I'd love to hear what they think. Thanks!

Jeff

I bought some a while ago but unfortunately can't find where I put them so this is going from memory.

They were nice sculpts and good, clean castings. I can't remember any problems with the rifles but I have a feeling the figures were a bit bigger than Battle Honours, though this may have been in part because their bases are thicker.

However, as I say, I don't have the figures in front of me so I'm not doing a side-by-side comparison.

Thanks for your response, SJ. If no-one else writes here, I just might eventually write to MJ Miniatures.

Hi Jeff

Miniaturemen, who has an eBay shop that stocks MJ figures, is a member here on TMP. When I enquired about them last year he kindly offered to send me a free sample (I didn't take him up on it in the event – I think I had already ordered directly from MJ). It might be worth contacting him by PM.

Wow, thank you!

Hi again SJDonovan,

After some consideration, I ordered some packs from Miniaturemen after all. Requesting a sample was tempting. But considering postage costs between the UK and USA, I was a little hesitant to do this.

Furthermore, the thread you linked to had the information I was seeking, which is how tall the MJ figures are (16mm to 17mm.) This sounds just fine to me. As you can imagine, I was reluctant to order any 18mm to 20mm giants which wouldn't be compatible with the other 15mm ACW figures I already own. But I think I'm on safe ground.

Thanks again for your help!

Jeff
