Whilst I know that August is supposed to be Oriental Fantasy month over on my blog: link the siren call of Eternia is far too strong. Go take a look at things beginning with 'O'… Comments and feedback appreciated, as always. |

Love the post title, and very clever use of the figure as well! |

Thanks all. Just the tip of Mount Fuji, there will be more to show shortly. Being of limited gaming budget (apparently food and bills take precedent, according to my wife), I always see what I can re-purpose when starting a 'new' project. This way I can justify hobby time without additional expense, which earns me brownie points at home. :) |

Cool idea. I managed to get some LOTR (Valiant) Oni on ebay – may finish painting the first one of these days What do you think of the new Tengu from Bushido ? I had been imagining Tengu with more human faces with long noses but I am no expert. There is also a Reaper Tengu Great blog – always appreciate someone sharing their research John |

Thanks for the comment, John. To be honest, my first thought on viewing the new Bushido Tengu was "Kung-Fu Chicken", so I'm unlikely to be getting any. Tengu are usually depicted as either long-nosed humanoids with wings or humanoid birdmen. The issue I have with the Bushido ones is their beaks, as the bird or bird-like form of the Tengu is a raptor (usually a Kite), so the beak should reflect this and the Bushido ones have beaks more like…chickens. As I wasn't entirely happy with the Tengu available, I have made my own, which will be featuring on my blog before the end of the month and the base figure is from a rather unexpected source… |

I think that the cleverest thing that Bushido has done with their Tengu is that their humanoid ones have Caucasian features. Because "long nose" is one of the racial slurs the Japanese have against Caucasians. |
