If you follow our news pages, or are registered for our newsletter, you should have seen the following: "As part of our frantic mould-making, also ready will be the first packs of helmeted Post War British, the DAF APC and the Swedish S tank, plus some ‘Militia' packs which are ideal for use as modern Syrians/ Iraqis/ Egyptians… in fact, anyone with AK47/74s in the modern world. Also ready will be the ‘fauna' for your Falklands games – Emperor Seals, Walrus, Sea Lions and Penguins, just what you didn't know that you wanted! …oh, and a pack of downed pilots" Some of these have been listed now; I am just trying to get some to paint and photograph! |

Ooh, you might get a few mixed "at last" and "hurrah" comments there…. :-) |
GeoffQRF | 04 Aug 2015 8:42 a.m. PST |
And well deserved. I did some of these about a year ago, but one way and another they have been sidelined, sidetracked, delayed and postponed. But they are finally appearing! link link |
Kenneth Portner | 04 Aug 2015 8:51 a.m. PST |
Nice! My bitching and moaning worked!! (just kidding). I've already ordered some of the BAOR infantry in helmet. Now waiting for the helmeted command. Thanks QRF! |
GeoffQRF | 04 Aug 2015 8:53 a.m. PST |
I did say keep bitching and moaning and we will get there! |

LAV III with Variants and Canadian Cold War infantry! Geoff, relax and close your eyes. Lean back and let go. Listen to my voice and slide smoothly into sleep…. You feel the overwhelming urge to finish up the Cold War Canadians with FN C1 and C2 rifles and Carl G's. You feel the need to design, create, make and market modern LAV III's and their variants. OT-64B's with various turret configurations dance in your head and call to be made real. When you awaken, you will feel invigorated, refreshed and driven to complete these tasks. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 … presto! Cheers and good gaming. Rod (Franz Anton Mesmer) Robertson. |

S-Tanks!!!! Now, about the PBv302s… |
Krieger | 04 Aug 2015 9:34 a.m. PST |
Yaay, S-tanks! Hoping to have to wait a bit less than a year for my 302's ;) Have already ordered a Viggen in 1/100 to be ready. Should probably get back to kicking Keith/ArmiesArmy about that swedish infantry :P |

Look into my eyes. Into the eyes, not around the eyes… …Canadian Infantry… And you're back in the room. |
GeoffQRF | 04 Aug 2015 10:24 a.m. PST |
Chas has given me some new Masters for the Canadian SLR, and corrected my CG pose, so Canadians are well on the way PBv 302 hull and turrets done, just sorting the track guards then will get them over. |
Mako11 | 04 Aug 2015 12:00 p.m. PST |
Excellent news! Thanks Geoff, and Chas!!! Of course, I would be remiss without mentioning the desire for the M114A1 with 20mm cannon, so a proper Cold War US Cavalry recon unit can be fielded. Perhaps a Davy Crockett mount for some Cold War jeeps too, just to keep those Soviet/WARPAC players on edge as well. Make them sweat. |
GeoffQRF | 04 Aug 2015 2:07 p.m. PST |
I did just send him an SS11 missile, and a 1/1200 scale Canberra, Pucara and Mirage… |
Weasel | 04 Aug 2015 2:09 p.m. PST |
I'll be making some orders very soon :) |
Just Jack | 04 Aug 2015 2:11 p.m. PST |
Geoff, Were you able to determine if you still have the molds for the 'old' modern US infantry? V/R, Jack |
Mako11 | 04 Aug 2015 2:21 p.m. PST |
Hmmm, could use a 1/1200th scale Viggen, if you're still doing small jets. That's one that is missing from the current retail offerings, and much needed for proper Cold War, Baltic ops. |
GeoffQRF | 04 Aug 2015 3:14 p.m. PST |
Just done a 1/1200 Harrier. Will add Viggen to my list. Jack, I've asked Chas again if he has the moulds (because I'm not actually in the factory) |
Mako11 | 04 Aug 2015 11:53 p.m. PST |
Thanks Geoff. That'll permit me to run the naval/air portion of the battles in the Baltic, and then use your larger scale minis for the land battles. |

Stryker MGS and Stryker Mortar carrier? Those two, combined with the existing Stryker ICV, would allow us to field Stryker companies which have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. |

1. Pictures of militia figs? 2. When S-tank? |
GeoffQRF | 05 Aug 2015 5:13 a.m. PST |
This is why I haven't advertised them yet, I'm waiting for photos or samples!! |
Cosmic Reset | 05 Aug 2015 8:01 a.m. PST |
Hi Geoff, Have Cold War East Germans made the list yet, or not high enough demand for them? Thanks |
GeoffQRF | 05 Aug 2015 8:20 a.m. PST |
It's less about demand, and more about me just doing them, but not made it through yet. |
Lion in the Stars | 06 Aug 2015 9:02 p.m. PST |
You could honestly ignore the MGS, as not even a platoon of factory techs could keep the ones belonging to the 25thID during their deployment to Afghanistan. I'm expecting to see something like a Bushmaster III in 50x330mm getting slapped onto the RWS, in place of the .50cal. |
GeoffQRF | 06 Aug 2015 11:41 p.m. PST |
I was just reading about that here Lion: link I've done some dogs too, ideal for sniffer teams and gate guards |

Guys, we're gamers, not DoD procurement! :-) There were only about 100 234/2 Pumas produced in WWII but gamers love their look and field lots of them. The MGS article linked above is consistent with other reports from Iraq that I've read. Troops loved the heavy "assault gun" support fully integrated into a rifle company at company level. In urban combat in Iraq the 105 proved extremely useful against insurgents in buildings. In one interview a soldier noted that when an MGS rolled up the bad guys frequently tried to disengage having seen the effects of the 105. 25mm and 30mm autocannons are certainly useful against cover but they're not as effective as a 105. The story linked above seems to mirror complaints about the Bradley. The "tank destroyer" concept of light armor + heavy AT capability seems like an evolutionary dead end but forces keep trying it. And the story makes a similar critique of the MGS. What I find interesting is that troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have been using TOWs and Javelins to engage enemies in cover too stout for their small arms to make an impression. The MGS provides that sort of support but the ammo costs less (OTOH maybe the military should spend more time developing an HE missile that can kill targets in cover at 1000 yards but at a much lower cost than the Javelin). In any case, despite its problems, the MGS looks cool, sort of like an SF vehicle. I've found some versions in other scales on Shapeways. And I've found 3D models online. Maybe print on demand can fill the hole. Which raises another interesting issue. We print publishers can use PDF and PoD to virtually eliminate risk and inventory costs. Over time will 3D printing PoD supplant traditional miniature operations in the same way? That way miniatures "publishers" could address opportunities that would be too risky with tradtional mold making. The MGS |
GeoffQRF | 07 Aug 2015 12:09 p.m. PST |
In some ways it already is, but at a cost. If you can draw it in CaD you can print it, although the surface finish is currently still lower and the unit cost still higher than traditional methods. Yes, wargamers want things that are cool, even if they were rarely used, or rubbish. We have sold more Tiger IIs than were ever really made, and the AMX-40 is a steady seller. I will add the MGS, because it does look cool (and was actually fielded). I am intrigued to see a 30mm armed version though |
Just Jack | 09 Aug 2015 1:10 p.m. PST |
Geoff, Have you heard from Chas yet? V/R, Jack |
Mako11 | 09 Aug 2015 1:57 p.m. PST |
I definitely need hordes of East Germans, if that helps with the sculpting, and production of them. Of course, the US Armored Cav guys will need that nice little M-114A1E1 (and/or M-114A1E2) to oppose them. Have I mentioned that today? |
Lion in the Stars | 09 Aug 2015 8:12 p.m. PST |
Friend of mine was in 25th Infantry Division during their deployment to Afghanistan, in the Stryker brigade. He had an entire platoon-sized crew from the factory, trying to keep the MGS turret working (because the Soldiers couldn't). When factory mechanics and engineers can't make the turret work in the real world, there is a problem. |
GeoffQRF | 10 Aug 2015 3:28 a.m. PST |
Have you heard from Chas yet?Yes, turns out we do still have the masters for these. I've asked Chas to put them back into production. |
Mako11 | 10 Aug 2015 10:27 a.m. PST |
Would like to see pics of them. Could use some more American troops as well. |
wardog | 12 Aug 2015 1:56 p.m. PST |
geoff your 1/1200, any plans on ground forces not just falklands thinking usmc m60 ,lavs ,lvtp-7 ,or any nato forces |
GeoffQRF | 12 Aug 2015 3:10 p.m. PST |
Hmm, the 1/1200 air range was designed to supplement our 1/2400 SeaWulf naval range, so no real plans to add any ground forces, but that is not to say it couldn't happen. |
Krieger | 13 Aug 2015 10:17 a.m. PST |
How is that Pbv 302 coming along? ;) The hype is making me wear out my F5 key! |
