I was joking via email today with a guy who is sending me some 15 mm howitzers from Britain. I asked how long it would take. It is up to Customs really. I joked that he had better not put 5.5" howitzer on the form. No, just "scale models". So it got me thinking what people put on customs forms for toy soldiers. |

'Toys' usually. I don't want to suggest that they're valuable. Although I do insure them to their value for international shipments. |

Stick an ORM-D label on the box. That'll speed things right up! Actually, thinking about it, you should put "small arms" on it. Howitzers are arms, and 15mm is small, after all. Doug |

In my case "scale models" is deliberately chosen, mainly from experience as a buyer – when importing into the UK, some types of toys are liable to import duty (only about 4%, and only on high value parcels, but still….) while others are 0%. Scale models are a 0% category. :-) |

Toys. Most first world countries Customs and Post Offices/couriers will not allow/or make it difficult to receive weapons, guns, cannons, knives…. and similar stuff by mail. |

Used metal toy soldiers. "Used" -- so not new to justify low(er) value. "Metal" -- to explain the weight. "Toy Soldiers" -- I figure most every customs agent has some idea what that is. |

Metal Toys. I always get asked if they include batteries when sending abroad from the UK. Batteries are not allowed it seems. |

Most of the time, when I receive a package, it'll say "toys" occasionally "hobby models". If I ever do need to mail miniatures abroad, I'll put "Jihadist sex toy" though. |

I am tempted to put "weapons of mass destruction", but I think I'll stick to toys. They've been looking for that package for nearly 15 years now. |
