So waching GoT yester day it dawned on me (yes slow)
That leader of the unsullied. (The only one that talks) why doesn't he haveba castrato voice.

Also the unsullied are supose to be super fighters.
But if you cut off their balls, they will be less agressive. Easier to flight, not to mention lack of testosterone, means they will not be able to build mucoules as easy.

From a biological stand point, creating fierce warriors by cutting of their balls is stupud.

As George said about the weird variable seasons , why the 700' Wall doesn't collapse, dragons…. "It's MAGIC!"

You accept White Walkers, dragons, and you question that?

SonofThor03 Aug 2015 7:38 a.m. PST

Maybe his voice would've been higher had he not been cut.

Well, the point of the Unsullied isn't ferocity – it's discipline and absolute loyalty. Testicles aren't required for either of those.

I dont believe the castratto vocce comes immediately after castration.
I could be wrong. Any volunteers?

No magic is magic, humans are humans. If you cut of the head of Ned stark he dies, if you cut of the balls of a young boy, he will get a thin high voice, low muscle tone, and be skittish.

That would be the difference between realism and suspension of disbelief. I'm going to accept that there are dragons and white walkers in a world where, otherwise, stuff works as normal.

If you don't have some reality, then you lose the thread of anything entirely.

The books cover this point (at least in one of the released Winds of Winter chapters). Barriston Selmy (still very much alive and an experienced leader) comments that individually the enuchs are weak but as a disciplined collective they are strong.

It's always fantastic to find an active internet discussion about severed testicles. Really.

It does make one wonder…

I was more concerned about their abysmal combat skills and choice of weaponry for close quarter combat in a urban environment

Everybody got abysmal combat skill in the series. Cavemen have more tactical sense then any character in the GoT series.

My understanding is the European Castrati were castrated before puberty, and that's why their voices are high.

Again if you want to wargame the Ice and Fire setting ignore the HBO serias. The books have reasonable medeival battles and the armor is historically based (so you can use commercial figures).
