long awaited , as warlord seem's to enjoy the AT ability of the Boys ATR :lol: . "This AT gun was the best AT gun on the battlefield in 1940, after the 8.8cm Flak18 used in AT role and perhaps the best one before the arrival of the 5.0cm Pak38. It exceeded widely the German 3.7cm PaK in terms of penetration and was also superior to the Czech made 4.7cm AT gun. The French army had about 1200 of them in service in May 1940, they were depending from the artillery regiments ../..
About 823 4.7cm Pak181/182(f) (captured on the front or in factories / repaired / newly built) were used after the campaign of France by the Germans. The Germans produced also a dedicated 4.7cm APCR shell for this gun. But already in May/June 1940 some of the captured guns were immediately used against French tanks, especially the dreaded Renault B1bis. The German reports indicate that 1226 shells were fired with these booty guns furing the battle of France. General Heinz Guderian himself in his memories ("Achtung Panzer !") indicates that he led the fire of a captured French 47mm AT gun against a Renault B1bis." ( David Lehmann "1939-1940 FRENCH ARMAMENT" ) It was used by the italians in Sicily, and Vichy troops during Torch, and some were used by the Free French in Bir Hakeim . |

Interesting to know if those hundred of cannons were send to the Eastern Front by the German?. Or they remain in France? Anyone have data about them? Amicalement

"Also mounted on the Panzerjager 1B." That photo shows a Czech 47mm. You can tell because the recuperator is quite different. On the SA37 there are two cylinders side-by-side, one smaller and one larger. |

Yes the Panzerjaeger I had the Czech 47mm gun, not the French one. |

Was this the same 47mm gun the Germans mounted on the carriers in Normandy? I believe some were also used in the Atlantic Wall. |
