@ GenCon 2010 I fell in love with the Dust Tactics minis – bought 2 copies of the game on the spot

Shortly thereafter I painted the softish preprimed plastic minis with my normal base coat and coat of Minwax Polyshades 'dip' & Testors Dullcote – at the same time I repainted some of the WOTC soft plastic D&D prepainted minis – much to my chagrin they all stayed glossy and became tacky to the touch – I was very disappointed

After playing with them for awhile I packed them away – I recently got them out – still sticky :(

Looking for solutions to the tacky/sticky issue – I read about baking the minis in the oven – setting them in a box in the sun – stripping and repainting them all – brushing on Testor's Dullcote & finally trying a spray matt sealer – Army Painter's Anti-shine was recommended – as I mentioned they were hit with a coat of Testor's Dullcote shortly after they were completed.

I was leaning towards baking them when I figured – try spraying a couple with Anti-Shine

Success!!!!!!!!! – so I sprayed them all – worked like a charm – not the super super flat finish I usually get with Anti-Shine but the sheen is mostly gone and they are no longer sticky – Woot!!! :) !!!

Many grateful thanks to Army Painter's Anti-Shine

Truth be told Anti-Shine has been my go to since I first tried it when it first came on the market & have been more than satisfied with it

For decades I used Testor's Dullcote but had some bad results that sent me looking for alternatives – I then tried most of the flat seal brands sold at Walmart/Lowe's/Home Depot but Anti-Shine beats everything I've ever used & is very consistently flat

This experience is just another win for Anti-Shine – even further securing it as my go to/only choice for a flat sealer

I have never had a problem with Dullcote.

However, I am always spraying Dullcote in low humidity situations. Also, I always let my figures dry for at least 48 hrs preferably 72 hours after brushing on the Army Painter Quick Shade (to allow release of gases etc.) before I spray on the the Dullcote.

I think if you do a search you will find many threads on this topic.
