I ran the Battle of Ligny at Historicon earlier this month. The scenario was adapted from the earlier work of Michael (aka Wargamer Rabbit). link for my collection and the Field of Battle rules by Brent Oman. Table was 120 square feet, about 1800 28mm figures of varying manufacture… link

Excellent job Peter! Loads of fun for your Historicon player group it seems…. and two convention Ligny games to boot! WR jealous. Does look a bit familiar :-). Glad you had some good use from the poor rabbit's earlier (HMGS-PSW YR 2012) scenario effort. Prussians had better luck with your gaming staff. A quick comparison photo for the reading crowd at large:

Peter – wonderful looking game with great terrain and nicely painted figures. Wish I could have been there. I applaud your fortitude for putting this on yourself. Our group of 13 did it at Enfilade and it was a lot of work. I painted up 700+ Prussians myself. Superb effort! |

I walked by this game several times during the day. It was stunning. |

Thanks! I definitely had considerable help; without that it would have been impossible, but it just wasn't the kind of game where I could delegate that much of the setup to others! |

Peter, I had a great time playing. I usually do when I play in your games (Wagram, Borodino, Ligny). Thank you for helping to make Historicon a great experience for me and my two boys (who, unfortunately, could not attend this year). For those who don't know Peter or have never gamed with him, he is a great guy, who is personable and thoughtful. As the pictures show, he puts together a beautifully terrained battlefield with gorgeous 28 mm figs. He works his games very hard and tries to make sure that everyone has a great gaming experience. |

Superlatives x 10…even the windmill. The spectacle alone would make it a memorable game. |

Thanks, guys. I', especially glad that you had fun [playing, I.M., because it is a war GAME, and it should be fun. I'm not sure I'll tackle another game the size opf the above (and Dresden) again at Historicon, but I tend to forget how much work it is, and get fired up with a new, grand idea anyway! :-) |

I just wanted to say that the game you put on looks absolutely spectacular. Very well done and makes the event VERY memorable. A HUGE amount of work painting them all… the Waterloo game just took a lot out of me, but it is the bicentennial year so you HAVE to celebrate part of the campaign… Ligny was the largest contingent of Prussians 1813+ and very much a pounding match with those villages being tough nuts to crack. Absolutely beautiful game and very glad good pictures were taken to capture the beauty. We Napoleonics players love looking at our Christmas Trees (troops). Frank ps. I would like to post some pics from the Texicon event but don't know how to post pics. Help, please? |

Thanks, Z2000. Posting pics to TMP is easy – just right click on the picture you want to post, and "Copy Image URL" The paste (or "Control V" ) the URL into the post – viola, the picture should appear in the post! |

Nice pictures of a great looking game. Sorry I missed it, as I was hosting two games of my own during your time slots. If I had seen your game, I would have nominated it for an award. Hope you run it again. FYI, the theme for Fall In 2015 is the 100 Days Campaign. Your event would fit right in and be worthy of consideration, in my opinion, for both the "Best Theme Game" and "Best of Show" awards. Keep up the good work. |
