The scenarios are basically a platoon level. One has two USMC platoons, but still totals only 40 some figures. Many have optional units to add some or all of.
The booklet gives charts for troop qualities and other info that are pretty much rules specific. I will be ignoring that info as I play FNG and will use its troop quality rules.
But the book looks good for the terrain, the troops involved, where and when they arrive, optional units for variety and victory conditions.
There are some excellent maps and diagrams. Of course there are terrain maps for the table layout for each scenario. But in addition, there are two full color topographical maps, an excellent diagram of the Khe Sanh combat base and other maps.
There is a very good chronology of the fights. Not long ago I read The Hill Fights by Murphy. I believe this is considered to be the standard reference on the hill fights covered by this scenario book. While the book is very good on the grunt level view of the battles with great detail, often in the form of quotes by participants, it is hard to follow as a whole.
I should have read this scenario book before I read Murphy. This makes it much easier to follow his book and in fact, makes sense out of his book, on the bigger picture level, for me at least.
I think this scenario book is well worth having. For that matter, Murphy's book is well worth having too if you want to play the scenarios. With the book you can read, very much on the grunt level view, how the fights went in substantial detail.
