I think this has tremendous potential. Figures would be easy to find. |
Bismarck | 30 Jul 2015 9:00 a.m. PST |
yeppers! you could also use African Military figures and vehicles to chase down poachers with "extreme prejudice". |
Some Chicken | 30 Jul 2015 9:04 a.m. PST |
One ultra modern I wouldn't mind playing. |
The Beast Rampant | 30 Jul 2015 9:38 a.m. PST |
Are we talking 15's? If so, the PETA's can find some allies in these guys: TMP link |
SBminisguy | 30 Jul 2015 9:39 a.m. PST |
Nah, PETA mostly takes on un-guarded research labs and then euthanizes all the animals they "rescue." So at most you need: Some "Street kids" or protesters from Offensive Miniatures: link Some lab terrain from various vendors, maybe from BlackCat: link Some bunny cages: link Some bunnies and dead bunnies from Mirliton's 28mm farm range or an HO/O-scale model train supplier: link |

And all the rage zombies you can find… 28 Days Later. |
skippy0001 | 30 Jul 2015 10:21 a.m. PST |
Never liked PETA. They'd be perfect for Jurassic Park. |
The Beast Rampant | 30 Jul 2015 10:31 a.m. PST |
Great idea! "Velociraptors & Vegans" |
Weasel | 30 Jul 2015 10:33 a.m. PST |
As was mentioned, in some regions of Africa, nature conservationists vs poachers is pretty much straight-up warfare. |
Stepman3 | 30 Jul 2015 10:35 a.m. PST |
Eurekas Rhodesian Bush Wars line would make great Game Wardens… |
DeRuyter | 30 Jul 2015 10:41 a.m. PST |
Actually the big "game" hunters would be perfect for Jurassic Park. The velociraptors wouldn't be standing still after having a spotlight shined on them in the middle of the night. Doesn't Eureka make them? You could paint some half eaten hunters as casualty markers too. |
basileus66 | 30 Jul 2015 11:11 a.m. PST |
Who makes Land Rovers in 1/56? They could come handy for PETA vs Poachers games. |
Some Chicken | 30 Jul 2015 11:39 a.m. PST |
But does anyone make a cosmetic dentist in 28mm? |
vtsaogames | 30 Jul 2015 11:59 a.m. PST |
It ain't PETA vs. poachers, it's Rangers vs. poachers. Both are armed. |

As was mentioned, in some regions of Africa, nature conservationists vs poachers is pretty much straight-up warfare. Yep. AQ/ISIS-linked terror groups are now among the nastiest of them. Very nasty. Can't see PETA fighting these people, maybe SEAL teams or SAS teams: "According to an 18-month investigation commissioned by the Elephant Action League in 2011, the al Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabaab generated between $200,000 USD and $600,000 USD a month from tusks. This vast sum of blood money accounted for about 40% of Al-Shabaab's total operating budget. These terrorist poachers not only kill African Animals, but are accused of murdering 60 Wildlife wardens in 2012 as well." link |
MH Dee | 30 Jul 2015 12:51 p.m. PST |
A wonder if they do a Ted Nugent in 28mm? Soiled pants and underage female companion optional. |
Bismarck | 30 Jul 2015 1:19 p.m. PST |
vtsaogames and SBminis, never caught it, but saw show trailers IIRC on either DSC or Animal Planet a couple years ago about local government organizations tracking and hunting African poachers. Some of these guys looked like the old Selous Scouts and all the government personnel looked and deployed like well trained infantry and were pretty well armed ie H&Ks,LMGs, submachine guns etc. one clip showed them deployed in chest high grass, calling out the spotted poachers(this time it was for Ivory) and opening fire the second they identified themselves. would have loved to have seen the show itself. |

Looks like Bambi is well represented here today. BTW I've never be involved in hunting, but I do know the difference between a poacher and a hunter. |
cloudcaptain | 30 Jul 2015 3:45 p.m. PST |
The show was Shadow Force: link |

Actually, for the Jurassic Park would make for some interesting 'big game' hunts. L. Sprague de Camp did a series of stories on traveling back in time to hunt dinosaur. Amazingly enough the hunters and guides managed to do OK. Even though that was fiction, humans are pretty good at predating. Matter of fact I worked with some fellows who has a fondness for .50 BMGs. Imagine those would be reasonably effective for the big saurs. Fair number of options for the smaller beasties. After all, these would be people who had information on what they were getting into and would plan accordingly. |
Stepman3 | 31 Jul 2015 9:27 a.m. PST |
I wouldn't mind a sanctioned PETA hunt… |
Weasel | 04 Aug 2015 7:11 p.m. PST |
Does anyone make suitable "nature warden" types for Africa? Not too military looking but with modern, high-tech weaponry, cell phones etc? For various poacher types, a lot of the AK47 range would work well. |
TamsinP | 05 Aug 2015 4:59 a.m. PST |
Yep. AQ/ISIS-linked terror groups are now among the nastiest of them. Very nasty. Can't see PETA fighting these people, maybe SEAL teams or SAS teams: PETA vs SAS/SEALs? Hmmm, has the makings of a good gameshow… |
