At this year's Historicon I picked up one of the 4Ground/Dead Man's Hand laser cut MDF models and enjoyed building it this past week. After painting it up I realized that the detachable roof could be replaced by an alternate tin roof and the model would then serve as a nice mission church for my South Seas adventures.

This led to back engineering an alternate Western roof for a Pulp island building I had constructed some time ago.

The results of both modifications are pictured here:

The black and white versions of the above pics are rather nice I think. A bit Old Hollywood.

I could see Nate and Hayes stumbling around those island mission buildings, being chased by a German naval shore party…

Who is the manufacturer of the trees or are they your handiwork? They look nice, too.

Very clever! Great painting too.

The trees are made from plastic flower/plant bits from Michaels. The trunks are coat hanger wire wrapped in twine and painted.

Clever conversion! Those turned out really nice.

Bob;
How did you paint the laser cut buildings…spray primer first or not? Or did you just dry brush them?

Hitman
P.S. It was great seeing you at H-Con this year…it has been a while.

I just mixed up some gesso mixed with some grey and umber acrylic and painted directly onto the model. Then it was many washes and some dry brushing to finish. The MDF took the gesso quite well.
