Hi all Against the better judgement of others I have taken on, for my sins, the roll of Trade Organisation for Salute 2016. This will be held, as usual, in the ExCel Centre in London on April 16th 2016. Trade spaces are limited and last year door attendance was up by around a thousand gamers: some 7000 or so including all of the concessions etc. I have started sending out Trade invitations and they are coming in thick and fast so – if I have missed anyone (or anyone I haven't heard of is interested in attending) please either PM me with your email address or otherwise contact me via the web site (see below) and I can get the forms off to you. Games applications can be made by contacting the Displays Officer (Jim Clark) via the email links on the Warlords web site link John Treadaway Salute Team On Behalf of the South London Warlords |

Just a thought (well, barely…), but would it be feasible to have "themed" areas, say people who make/sell laser-cut MDF buildings as their sole/main activity? Or who are best-known for making figures for a particular era or campaign? I know some traders don't want/like to be labelled as just being involved in one period or product, but it might make it easier for punters to know that the stands in block "T" are mainly/primarily selling dice or gaming counters, for example. You could maybe do the same with different genres of historical game – perhaps have all the "Hastings" and "Somme" anniversary games in the same rows (assuming there are any)? I can think of pros and cons, but marginally more of the former. |

Go for it Leon, I can guarantee at least a £400.00 GBP hit from our club alone. Shame Adler were not at Salute this year. – To me it was the best Salute I'd been to since Kensington Town Hall days, had a great time. Oudinot |

Supercillious – I don't think that's a go-er for a number of reasons including (but not restricted to): The difficulty in determining exactly what traders sell (very few sell just one product); Traders wanting to be in the "same spot as last year"; Traders not always wanting to be grouped with their immediate competitors; Traders requesting to specifically not be next to a particular trader (for whatever reason); Traders wanting to be next to a game that they are bringing/sponsoring; Traders' specific size requirements being met by the physical layout of both the building, other traders and games – when a trader (like Wayland or 4ground to name just two) want a huge block rather than a regular stand, we have to fit them in where it works in a 'spatial' sense rather than a thematic sense. It's a complicated ole' business, believe me John T |

The Trade Stand allocation at Salute 2016 (April 16th) is now FULL. Any further applications I receive will go on the reserve list so – if something comes up, the Traders concerned will be notified of the position. John Treadaway On behalf of the South London Warlords |

Hi all For reasons far too complex to go into here, I have withdrawn from direct involvement with handling the trade bookings at Salute. Don't worry, however: the programme is at the printers via Miniature Wargames and the show is all rolling forward and on course to be the usual success. So, as we run up to the show on April 16th, can any further enquiries be directed straight to Bill Tate, the Salute Coordinator, please. Many thanks in advance for your understanding, and also thankyou to those traders who have contacted me privately to enquire after my wellbeing: I'm fine, thankyou. John Treadaway |

Crikey John, less than one year into the role and you have to bail – that must be a cursed position. Good luck to your successor (after all, look what happened to Alexander's…) |
