Wear a robe/hood that obscured sight, muffled hearing and make noise when moving through the undergrowth/wwods? link link I love the figure and may actually buy it someday but it just struck me that wood elves are supposed, (well to me,) to be silent, unseen, ambushing prone characters in most genres. Would that robe actually detract from that mood? |

Buy the metal version. Crisp clean lines. The Bones version is soft on the details. Maybe this elf is not in the woods and has to hide his features. Or it could be a magic hood that amplifies his natural senses. |

It's a style thing. Elves have a strong fashion sense. Hoods are in this Fall. |

Metal indeed -I've seen some of these bone yard plastics and they're like something out of a cornflakes packet. This guy could be wearing a cloak of invisibility, just like the one I was wearing the other day at a bar. Maybe other special forces type elves clear the way for the arrival of the big man and silent movement is not an issue, after all he'd be heard when he started reeling off spells and all that sort of hocus pocus. Great figure |

He is not in the woods, and needs the feeling of the green stuff all around him. |

Wood Elf wizards are the butt monkeys of the Elven world. They tromp around making a noise, casting glowing light spells, and generally attracting all other living things attention. Then the other wood elves can move freely without being noticed. It's an Elf thing. Trust me. ;-) |

The same reason that a Wookie would live on Endor,it does not make sense. |

Bones miniatures are just as detailed as the metal ones. I used to think that they were softer, too, but it turns out that the issue is that the material is slightly translucent and the detail is almost invisible until you paint it. The issue there, of course, is that the Bones material doesn't play nicely with primer and you have to wash them pretty thoroughly to get the mold release off before they will take paint well. As for the hood – it's clearly to deflect all the leaves, pine cones, and bird that rain down from the trees above him. |

As an aside, speaking of Bones material, I find it works really well for large monsters. The Bones Griffin FREX is very well done, and not as unwieldy as the metal version. Damon. |

magic requires TOTAL concentration; no distractions like bird calls. |

it's clearly to deflect all the leaves, pine cones, and bird "bleep!" that rain down from the trees above him. Now there's some painting inspiration. I have this in both metal and plastic. One to be handled properly and the bones one to through in the box-o-stuff for short notice/pick-up games. I do have to mention, I haven't noticed anything that restricts this to being an elf, wood or otherwise. Or by gender as well. It just works as a spellcaster. "Let me tell you about my character." |

Perhaps the "Pointy Hat and Robe" isnt so much an elf thing as a mage or magic user thing. How many magic users of any species that you know of just go around dressed in normal clothing, whatever the local style is! |

Quite honestly, it depends upon the paint job…a pseudo camouflage would probably look rather good and would work there. |

BTW, it looks really good in those Frostgrave winter colors. |

Thanks! Actually, I painted it a while before Frostgrave came along. I guess now all winter themed fantasy figures will be labeled Frostgrave. :-P |
