WTF? "European Union laws require you to give European Union visitors information about cookies used on your blog. In many cases, these laws also require you to obtain consent. As a courtesy, we have added a notice on your blog to explain Google's use of certain Blogger and Google cookies, including use of Google Analytics and AdSense cookies. You are responsible for confirming that this notice actually works for your blog and that it is displayed. If you employ other cookies, for example by adding third-party features, this notice may not work for you. Learn more about this notice and your responsibilities." |

It is a legal requirement that you inform users if your site uses cookies. |

What annoys me is that they tell us that we are responsible for confirming that the notice works for our blogs, then singularly fail to provide a means for us to do so. |

A indirect attack against Google. |

The same notification has gone out to many Bloggers. As others have written – a legal requirement to show browsers that cookies operate via Blogger/Google. I would have thought that a simple notification from Google would have been easier? Than what do I know, the EU have hundreds of thousands of people working for it – they must know best!!!!! Simple fix – don't use cookies As a consumer I hate cookies and spend time each week deleting them Some cookies are not harmless as they will sometimes be a way of introducing Malware More often cookies send personal browsing habits to target spam and directed ads. |

I doubt European laws apply to those outside of the EU, unless someone's put them in charge of the rest of the world without telling me. |

It's actually quite easy to check (and they DO tell you how). Just go to your blog and change the domain to a European one. For example, my blog is: "http://blundersonthedanube.blogspot.com/" link Change it to the French domain "http://blundersonthedanube.blogspot.fr/" and reload blundersonthedanube.blogspot.fr and there it is, an ugly banner across the top of the page. Viola, done. Takes less than a minute to check. While I doubt any action would be taken against a non commercial hobbyist blog originiating outside the EU regardless, it is really isn't hard so… "Kwitcherbitchin" and check it! :-) |

So..I clicked OK. Basically you have to to get into design, and yesterday got nearly 49 spam Messages (average up until yesterday, 3 a day, most ever 10 in one day) and today already 25 plus. Coincidence? |
Gonsalvo | 29 Jul 2015 9:41 a.m. PST |
Yes, coincidence. No spam messages at all, and I have had fewer than a dozen in 5 years, and I allow un-moderated commenting without the annoying captychs. For whatever reason, just not an attractive target for spammers, although I do get plenty of those suspect Russian and Chinese visitor hits! |
