Wood's northern column encounters resistance crossing the Thukela River:
The game was run with concealed Zulu troops who could only be identified at a certain range, plus the Zulus had a number of decoys too. We ran with Black Powder converted to 15mm by the simple expedient of using centimetres instead of inches. For a 6x4 foot table, it turns it into the equivalent of a 15x10 foot one for 15mm!
The full report of a close game can be found on the blog as usual folks: link Enjoy |

Thanks for a super report suggesting that Black P are good rules for Zulu War. How long did the game take to complete? Thanks also for nice photos showing off the detail of your mainly Essex 15mm -beautiful range which I wish they would expand. |

We took about three hours for this game, including set up and playing well over a dozen rounds each. I do like the Essex mini's, it is a little dated and limited as a range but I always had a soft spot for them. |

Looks like a good game…. But, you need wagons just to give the Brits something more to worry about. |

Great photos and report. Maybe I'll have to try Black Powder in 15mm as well for my Colonials. |

Loved the use of the goats. Now I know I need to add more zoologicals of the wild variety to my collection. Imagine, instead of goats, a herd of gazelles – or zebras – or cape buffalo?! Challenge, of course, is finding same in 15 mm. Zebras are easy, adapt horses and mules. Gazelles can be had from Irregular's pronghorn antelope as a make do. But where to get cape buffalo? Grumpy's buffalo are distinctly asian. And, naturally, I'd like actual proper sculpts if the can be found. |

Your basing scheme is exactly the same as used in my Battles for Empire rules. Indeed, when I first saw the pictures I thought you were using BFE. Nice looking collection and I really enjoyed the blog. Your painting guides are very useful. Cheers, Chris |
