I was intruduced to Safari gaming a couple of years ago, and we have had some good games! Yesterday's was no exception! – The write up is on my blog at: link
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we had playing it! |

Mate, this "Ibex/Oryx" thing… You've got to get it sorted! |

That looks like a lot of fun--a fitting finale to the season's games. You all have a great collection of wildlife figures! |

Fascinating game and entertaining report. WHat rules did you use? |

I love Howard Whitehouse's rules The Lion Eats Tonight. At least in that game some of the players get to play the animals and things perhaps do not always go well for the primates with guns. Personally I like the alternative safari games such as Saurian Safari or Talon and Claw were you go after prehistoric beasts and again things are not always so much in favor of the fire-armed primates. |

The rules used were Herkybird's Colonial Skirmish rules (available from the Tyneside Wargames Club site. Linked at the top of the blog post). The Safari expansion is not on there, but I will suggest to Herkybird that he make it available. |

herkybird, great report, lots of good ideas. Thanks. Safaris DO make good games. I have done a large scale safari game link plus miniatures games based on The Source of the Nile. Once did game that stated with the hunters in camp and then attacked by natives. They had to flee back to base being chased from behind and running into slavers and animals in front. Along the lines suggested by "kallman" I have done a Skull Island safari link |

I love a good/fun hunting game. Tusk is my preferred rule set. |

Chris Peers also published a safari game that appeared in one of the mags some years ago. We played it once or twice and found it enjoyable. I imagine the basic mechanisms are similar to his commercial rules for such subjects, such as 'Tooth and Claw' and 'Saurian Safari'. |

Chris Peer's rules for Safari have given me some very enjoyable games. Especially with my kids. |

I have put the Safari extension rules in to Andy, our Website owner, and he should have them online soon. If you want them now, just PM me with your E-Mail address, or E-Mail me direct at richardbradley5@gmail.com and I will send the PDF direct! Glad you enjoyed the post! |

I've had good games with Dino safaris. Once I get more African animals painted up more mundane trips can be gamed. |

I don't see why they couldn't be, especially if you follow the current news, and turn the tables – safari hunt gone bad, where the hunter now becomes the hunted. |

At last! – The additional rules to my colonial rules we used in this game are on our website now: link I hope you enjoy using the solo animal rules! |

Any good safari game should include the options of the critters taking down the Great White Hunter(s). I wouldn't mind taking a turn playing the South African Border Guards:
