So After devouring the Players Handbook and the Dungeon Masters Guide I really think they cracked it this time. Combat is simple, they have adapted some nice things from modern rules sets and kept enough old school to entice me a twenty year veteran. Anyone else looked at these newish rules from wizards? |

Been playing them since around last December when the DMG hit IIRC… Damon. |

I'm starting a campaign in two weeks. I hope it goes well. |

I like it. It's good compromise between 3.5e and 4e. |

Same as above. Playing it since it came out. I hated 4e with a passion. |

I found it interesting and easy to digest. This is a problem because my ADHD makes it hard for me and rules to gel. Unfortunately life has gotten in the way. I would like to get back to it soon, though. |

I decided to pass on it. I am using Swords & Wizardry (an OD&D clone) to play with my kids. I have a 3x5 notecard box that has everything written I need to play (also holds my dice) and the rulebook on my phone. I was going to buy the new Players Handbook, but the $50 USD price tag scared me away. |

The rules brought me out of a 25 year hiatus. We are having fun with them. Xin |

5E I must say has a sense of completeness I don't feel the need to get more than the main three books (Players, DMG and Monsters Manual). Where as 3.5 had splat book bloat and 4e had main book bloat, seriously how many players hands editions did they have in the end? The main seller in the end – the fact the DMG has all the magic items, and a tool box for creating more (races, spells, classes |

As a long lapsed player/DM, I also bought the core set and am impressed. Not only are the books physically gorgeous, they seem fine tuned to provide a streamlined structure easily modified to taste. Now, of course, to convince some friends to try it out (!). |

Gave them a try. OK set, but not outstanding. And for me, not worth the investment when they just were not better for me than my existing set. Owen |
