I've just put a photo report of the brilliant day we had at the Joy of Six 2015 last Sunday. You can see it here baccus6mm.com/news

The new venue was great, the catering much improved and the quality of games was outstanding. If you are a 6mm gamer then there will be lots here to delight you. If you are not, then have a look – the games on display were top drawer from the biggest to the smallest. You may begin to understand why 6mm gamers are so enthusiastic about their chosen scale.

It really was a wonderful day, and unlike an awful lot of other shows nowadays, the attendees stayed until the bitter end.

We are already making arrangements for the Joy of Six 2016 and this will be even bigger and better.

Cheers

Peter

Wow, thanks for sharing Peter. Was Waterloo about 16' x 6'? Those look like 4 4'x6' tables, but could be 6'x8' too.

Are there any more photos or blogs of the Plassey game? That's one of my favourite battles, and I have it planned in 2mm, but would love to see more of it in 6mm.

I also liked the winter basing for Gadesbuch, I'll have to work on mimicking it.

Thanks for the report. A enjoyable read with great photo's and yes, a date for the diary in 2016

fantastic!

Thanks for all the positive feedback. The photos look good but you really needed to be there to see just how good some of these games were.

Waterloo was 18 x 8, Ligny was nominally 20 x 8 but grew a little bit on the day. Both worked on the basis of representing every battalion present.

Sorry,no more photos of Plessey, but I am sure you'll find others on various reports and blogs.

Thanks Whirlwind, that does have a closer shot of the Plassey game, though the elephants are on the far side of the table – surely someone took a photo of the elephants!

I'm off to see if there are more reports around. If anyone else does see some, please share.

Plans are already being made for the Joy of Six 2016, so keep the weekend clear in your diary. If you've read this and are thinking, ‘I wish I'd been there.', then make your plans now!

Aye aye sir. ;-) Sadly a last minute diary clash kept me away this year, but I enjoyed last year's show, and it looks like the new venue's helped you bring it on even further – I'll definitely have to make it next time. :-)

FWIW Peter, that previous engagement I had to cancel my Baccus open day/Joy of Six reservation for?

Rubbish. Utter waste of time. Serves me right.

I wish I could have gone to see these tables. Looked great !

Peter,
On MKWS, I spoke to Neil at this years MKWS show. He said the club was only buying 6mm figures now. The ancients game was well presented on the day.

I would love to see a U.S. Branch of the event.

donlowry27 Jul 2015 7:44 a.m. PST

Again I ask: where was it held?

daler240D27 Jul 2015 7:52 a.m. PST

Sheffield, UK

Baccus 6mm27 Jul 2015 9:40 a.m. PST

Sorry I didn't reply first off, but I thought the word,'Sheffield' appearing twice in the introductory paragraph pretty much gave the game away…

bishnak28 Jul 2015 4:55 p.m. PST

All looks fantastic. As a small-scale gamer, I'd love to get there some day, but it's a long trek from Oz!
