Hello, here's hoping someone out there in the wargames figure world can help me, with a bit of a problem. I have been scouting the net for the Northstar/Helion mounted Austrian command figure link but it has proven fruitless. I am after 4 of these figures but given I don't think the figures are available anymore I was thinking of buying a couple of the Great War Crimean Russian mounted command packs link and changing the heads with some damaged Northstar 1866 Austrians. Very grateful for any advice on their scale compatible etc, etc or to anyone who has some ready made Northstar Mounted Austrian commanders they would be happy to sell. Cheers Roy |

Battle Honors has them. They are sold by Old Glory 15s (but they are 25/28mm). Check out this site: link I hope this helps.

Northstar/Helion mounted Austrian command figure PMFJI… These look good, and reasonably priced. However I am unsure whether they are the same line as Northstar? Especially as I see French and Saxons listed. When did this all happen? I'd be very interested if they are closely compatible to the few hundred Northstar Prussians I purchased a couple of years ago. I would definitely order a bucketful. Anyone know of comparison images? Cheers, |

The Oldglory figures are smaller than your Northstar. In my view the Oldglory French, Austrians and Saxons are more compatible with my Wargames Foundry 1870/71 Prussians and Bavarians. Cheers Roy |

Roy: Your description above is very helpful as I have had a number of Helion & Foundry over the years and can immediately visualize the answer to my question. Disappointing, but clear, many thanks Cheers, Michael |

As find by our TMP friend and great Safari Hunter Tango :-))there is "a new company in town" "Cibo's Little Dudes" from my country ..Italy..that make a full range of 28mm Austrians for the period…from picts , my impression is that they should be quite big guys and with marked details..so they should be OK side by side with your existing collection..as you can see from the link they have quite a few mounte officers among others…but who knows how they are untill i see them in the flesh?…but, it happen that i just received a nice mail from the owner who anticipated me that i'll soon receive some samples as asked..well hope they arrive this week before i go to the splendid beach of the South of Italy..i really would'not like to be distracted from Italian girls and good ice creams and sunny/water baths by the concern of "how are those minis" :-)) |

@ Cheriton, yes Michael it is a tad disppointing the Oldglory and Helion aren't the same scale. If you email me royboardman102_at_btinternet.com I can send you some images so you can compare for yourself. BTW remember to use the @ symbol in my email address. @ Italians, Ooh very nice figures will order a few samples for comparison with the Helion figures, thanks very much for the tip. Sadly I need the Austrian officers for a game on Thursday and the Great War Crimean Russian mounted command have arrived today but not sure I can bring myself to start hacking the figures because they are fantastic. Blimey that's another range I am now going to have to start collecting, what hardship ;D Thanks again Roy |
