I confess my favorite movie genre is love not war. I'd rather watch Pride & Prejudice or Ever After than most war or action flicks.

So, is your favorite movie genre one you also game?

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut23 Jul 2015 4:58 p.m. PST

My favorite film genre (after porn, of course, which is gard to game) is "whatever I am in the mood for," which is also my favorite gaming genre. But rarely do they intersect at a more detailed level.

Interesting, I never thought it through in those terms.

I'm a big fan of Asian Cinema going back to the late 60's; I've been involved in the Martial Arts (Wing Chun) for 30+ years and I game the late Edo Period so, yes, it is.

Comedy … Is there a game for Nacho Libre?

Combat Colours23 Jul 2015 6:49 p.m. PST

Yes, most of my favorite films are history based;
especially WW2 and Westerns!

rustymusket23 Jul 2015 6:58 p.m. PST

You've Got Mail , When Harry Met Sally, etc. Not what I would consider gamable.

Dear Extra Crispy.

I'm with you. I'd rather watch a good costume drama or one of those Ernst Lubitsch society comedies from the 30's and 40's than a war film. The war films I do like are..

Since you Went Away
Random Harvest
Mrs. Minniver
The best years of our lives.

I confess to being addicted to "Cabaret" and "Chicago."

For Japanese films, it's "Rashamon" and "The Drum Teacher."

The other film that I like is "Bridge to Terebithia"a though I have to steel myself to watch it because it's so sad.

OSchmidt24 Jul 2015 5:01 a.m. PST

Oh, I forgot

I love Paths of Glory but that's really an anti-stupidity film.

Texas Jack24 Jul 2015 5:27 a.m. PST

I like comedies, and quite often it is apropos to my game play. huh?

Huscarle24 Jul 2015 10:27 a.m. PST

I don't really have a favourite genre, although I used to be quite a film buff & have a fair few favourite films, such as "The Searchers", "My Favourite Year". "Sons of the Desert", "The Life & Death of Col Blimp", "American Graffiti", "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes", "The Cruel Sea", "Hero", "Blade Runner", etc.
I guess most are gameable, but that said, I mainly game fantasy, with the rare WWII or rarer Ancients game.

So, yes.

I like action flicks, so mine is eminently gameable. I hate drama on the screen … think it is much better on the stage or on a book. Comedy is tolerable on the screen, but I have a hard time dealing with it for an hour and a half in that medium. Suspense movies are OK. There are no more horror movies, only gore.

John the Greater24 Jul 2015 12:30 p.m. PST

Samurai movies and comedies. Kind of all over the map.

War of the Worlds, 1954
Stagecoach
Searchers
Shootist
Alamo, 1964
Tora!Tora!Tora!
The Longest Day
Godzilla, King of the Monsters
King Kong, 1933 & 2005
Them!
Downfall

So, yes, most of these are easily gameable.
