I have just returned from Historicon 2015 and had a really great time. I had fun watching several different games: Warrior L' Art de la Guerre (ADG) – This seemed really popular. DBA 3 and 2.2+ To the Strongest! SAGA The Crescent & the Cross I am more of a far future/modern/what-if type of gamer so it was surprisingly fun to play these games. I am not a history buff or anything so I am just going to start with creating an army that interests me and I figured why not something from the Crusades. Knights, etc. So, it looks like the majority of the rules use unit bases but SAGA is individual based. My plan is to base the figures individually and then make some custom movement trays that adhere to the 40mm frontage for 15mm scale figures. Maybe magnets on the base or some cut out slots to fit the figures in. My main question, is what source (manufacturer and/or online store) in the USA would be good to order from for 15mm figures in this era? Forgive my lack of correct game/era terminology but maybe a King for my General, mounted knights, mounted archers, foot sergeants, crossbow men. Any pointers or links would be appreciated. |

The Black Hat minis for this period are very nice and readily available from me at ScaleCreep.com |

Scale Creep – link carries Black Hat miniatures which I like good detail and lower price. He also has bases. Noble Knight link also carries Essex as do FRP Games link and Great Hall Games link Sgt Major Miniatures carries Bloody Day (former Feudal Castings) Norman and Medievals link P.S. Lining up too many competitors for you Extra Crispy, you beat me to it. |

Strange – the same text pops up when mousing over those, but at least for me the second works and the first doesn't… |

My blog has some stuff you may find useful if you are looking at the later crusades e.g. link Links to various manufacturers though not necessarily US. |

I'll second Legio Heroica. Best Feudal/Crusaders by far. I have a Later Crusader ADLG army composed of mostly LH. They'll be fighting in their 1st ADLG tournament this weekend actually. When I ordered from LH I got my order in under 2 weeks. |

If I was starting out I would get the lot from Legio Heroica. |

Hands down Legio Heroica are the best imho for 15mm Crusades, however they are closer to 18mm if that makes a difference to you. Christopher |

If you are interested in the First Crusade, and are willing to order from overseas, the Italian company Stategia Nova sells excellent 15mm minis, which are compatible with Essex (the 15mm standard IMHO). They have good photos along side of a scale ruler, here: link Mark H. |

15mm Crusader ranges, Miriliton and Legio Heroica both have greats ranges for the Crusaders. I don't think Legio Heroica can be bought in the states thou! |

Thanks for all the posts and links. I am looking forward to my foray into ancient war gaming. Now, I just need to decide what to buy from all the choices. :) |

I have a DBA Later Crusader army in 15mm. I used Old Glory 15mm and they look great. I have the Legio Heroica that are unpainted, they are very nice figures. Living in the USA Old Glory would be the easiest obtain. |

I like the Essex figures. Old Glory doesn't seem to have as much variety on the Arab side. I have not heard of C and B as a distributor. I clicked on the "contact us" button and says can't be found. Anyone deal with them recently? Thanks Joe |

Joe, I contacted CandB minis and they are actually getting in some of their pre-made DBA 3 armies, which is good for me. I requested one army they did not have and just waiting for them to get it in stock before I order. I will let you know how it goes but they were quick to respond to my emails asking questions. |
