I noticed recently that Khurasan's on a summer vacation. Anyone know when they started it – how many days or weeks ago – and when they typically get back?

napthyme23 Jul 2015 11:16 a.m. PST

You must have missed the TMP memo about K

jtipp6823 Jul 2015 11:29 a.m. PST

What memo? He's not out of business and just because he's not on here doesn't mean it can't be discussed.

It's usually 2-3 weeks, when he reopens get on it quick because he gets flooded and shuts it back down again.

The annoying thing is he shuts the whole web site down. I need to check some codes and can't…..

jtipp6823 Jul 2015 12:18 p.m. PST

Mark,

I've used the search function before and found a thread that has a "way-back machine" link and you can see everything that was on the site at that point. The only problem would be if the items you're looking for were added after that point.

kallman23 Jul 2015 12:32 p.m. PST

Here is a link from the Way Back Machine for July 18, 2014 which seems the most recent capture of the site. Regardless you can see things except anything real recent.

Oh and I agree regardless of the blow up between TMP and Khurasan there is not a reason we cannot talk about the miniatures which are still some of the best out there for 15 mm Science Fiction.

Blow up? What did I miss?

Khurasan was caught sock-puppeting on a major scale, to make their products look better and competitors look bad.

"Jon" of Khurasan is apparently Larry Dunn, of internet shame.

Patrick Sexton Supporting Member of TMP23 Jul 2015 1:58 p.m. PST

Wait a minute, Jon from Khurasan was in Earth, Wind and Fire?

Damn!

nazrat23 Jul 2015 2:18 p.m. PST

Don't care and I will still order from him.

Mute Bystander23 Jul 2015 2:38 p.m. PST

Extra Crispy,

If I was going away for weeks I think I would shut down the web site until my return. Is it less satisfying to not be able to contemplate/plan buying more miniatures for the lead pile? Sure, but it seems safer than leaving it open to potential hacking or having people order then complain about how long it takes to get their toys.

He was punished for his sock puppet activities that Bill claims he did (not saying it didn't happen just that there is no way for anyone to verify it… and yes I know Bill's justice is not constrained by the constitution…) so I am good with that consequence and will order items from him if they appeal to a project of mine. We all are sinners.

What ever Jons crimes. He still has the some of the best 15mm around. It was a sad day when He and TMP parted company. TMP is diminished because of it. IMHO.

Whatever the quality of their products, their business practices are inethical.

What ever Jons crimes

There is no Jon.

Oh Bugger23 Jul 2015 4:21 p.m. PST

Yeah I'm waiting for Khurasan to reopen too. I'm thinking the Tudor English are about ready for release. I'll have some Late Roman Command too.

I think Khurasan went on holiday about a week ago in answer to the OP's question so maybe back next week.

platypus01au23 Jul 2015 4:35 p.m. PST

There is no Jon.

There is only war

I'm headed on vaca for a week starting next Tuesday. The site remains open but any orders placed will ship on my return. Meanwhile you can browse all my stuff, see pictures, etc. No more at risk for hacking when I'm here than when I'm not frankly.

No biggie, I was just trying to figure out what some random packs of his were.

Twoball Cane23 Jul 2015 7:09 p.m. PST

The story is sad from our community perspective…..but I will still order from khurasan…..when he's open…and I will still browse here every day. But it was nice to see his previews on TMP. I don't like LA too much and rarely visit.

Kind of like a ford vs chevy truck thing.

Skeptic23 Jul 2015 7:36 p.m. PST

"…inethical". [sic]

Did you mean "unethical"…?

john lacour23 Jul 2015 8:55 p.m. PST

i don't know about jon and sockpuppets, but the guy has a first class business, and he has always been a great guy to buy from. i suspect there is a "story behind the story" we commoners here on TMP will never hear about, and tbh, i really don't care 2 rips what went on. i don't come here for internet drama(unlike many, these days), i come here to see and talk about toy soldiers.
my guess is talking about toy soldiers is'nt fun enough, so we get topics that have no real place here.

Khurasan has great sci fi miniatures in my scale(15mm). he provides top notch kit at good prices and has always been a gent to deal with.
i highly recommend his products.

I'm still awaiting his release of 6mm Jasmine Throne … frown

Really?

Irish Marine24 Jul 2015 7:08 a.m. PST

I really don't get what the big deal is, I really don't. Everyone who is a salesman will prop his product up and tell people to buy theirs because it's the best. Khurasan hasn't done anything a lot of others haven't done or are still doing, and not just here.

IUsedToBeSomeone24 Jul 2015 7:43 a.m. PST

What other people are not doing is using fake accounts to post bad comments about their competitors….

Or not using their own name but an alias to trade under…

Why?

KRPeterson24 Jul 2015 9:35 a.m. PST

Sorry if I stirred up any controversy. I created an account on TMP just this week – and have read these messageboards once in a while before that – so I've missed out on 'memos' or shady activity.

I just like Khurasan's minis and have bought a handful over the past few years.

Irish Marine24 Jul 2015 10:18 a.m. PST

Again I'm an all fair in Love and war and Business kinda guy.

erraticassassin24 Jul 2015 10:51 a.m. PST

I found the whole affair disappointing mainly because it was so completely unnecessary: Khurasan's products are sufficiently nice that there's absolutely no need to slag anyone else off to make a sale. I'll still buy from him, because I've always had decent service in the past, but I'll be less inclined to give the benefit of the doubt if an order gets messed up in future.

Irish Marine24 Jul 2015 11:09 a.m. PST

You made my point you will still buy from him so the people doing the buying don't care only the sellers, who have now slashed their competition by one.

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP24 Jul 2015 1:25 p.m. PST

"What other people are not doing is using fake accounts to post bad comments about their competitors….

Or not using their own name but an alias to trade under…"

Exactly.

"You made my point…"

Your point is your own.

After his activities were disclosed I stopped purchasing his products.

Other sellers of similar products didn't 'slash' him: his removal from TMP was Bill's decision after he was given an opportunity to present his side.

IUsedToBeSomeone24 Jul 2015 1:48 p.m. PST

I'm a doing business ethically kinda guy…
