There's going to be a MASSIVE DBA game of Persians vs Greeks. The Battle for Boetia with 12+ players. 24 feet of gaming! We need DBA experts to play in it and/or help the rookies. I can't promise anything but some free food, free beer and maybe a few game tickets. Game is being organised by Duke Seifried and mr Gen-con hisself, Peter Adkins. Game is Friday Morning; 10am, and Sunday Morning; 11am. If you can make it, email me at rmb-at-fairpoint-dot-net |

DBE De Bellis Extravaganza! Still not clear what the diff is, since I don't really know DBA. I think it's mainly just bigger units and some special stuff for sparabaras and phalanxes. |

Duke's game is based on DBA 2.2 with his own additions, unless he changes some things before GenCon. |

I'm playing in one of them. Have to look at me tickets. :) |

Sorry I can't make it this year! |

I saw him run this game at Historicon. Someone should suggest using Base Width movement segements (as per DBA 3.0) to speed up the game. Really helps in Big Battle type games. TomT |

I cannot play DBA 2 anymore, DBA 3 is so much better, and, as Tom says, faster for Big Battle. I am sure there will be enough players without me :) You should not advertise it as DBA if it is not. |

Why not? Will a fine be handed out? Might they take away the game master's birthday? |

Come on Bob, modified DBA 2.x can still be called DBA. This nomenclature is more useful to prospective players than calling them "Duke's Custom Ancients Rules", or some such. After all, if one plays a set of rules long enough, one typically adds house rules. I myself have done this with every set of (good) miniature rules I have ever played. Some examples are Fletcher Pratt, Seapower, General Quarters, WRG WWII and WRG modern land rules, DBA various versions, etc. etc. MH |

You should not advertise it as DBA if it is not. Now that's just plain silly. So anyone who ever puts on a game in which they've in any way modified a published set of rules (call them X), or who does not use the most recently published version of X, should not call it a game of X? Nonsense. Doug |

I thinks it's more the fact that it isn't 3.0 than anything else. |

This is what the first post said "There's going to be a MASSIVE DBA game of Persians vs Greeks." This is what is really is "Duke's game is based on DBA 2.2 with his own additions" I only ask that it be advertised as what it is. |

I didn't really want to start a whole thing here. If you got nothing better to do at gencon and you got some DBA experience, stop by. |
Centrino | 24 Jul 2015 4:11 p.m. PST |
I will be there but have no real experience, as noted on my post about just starting out building a Crusade army. I will try to stop by to see it, though. |

Centrino, jump in and play if you can — the Duke's games are always very welcoming for newcomers! |

For years approx 2001 – 2010 the DBA played at the big East Cons was DBA 2.2 with house rules. There used to be Roads added as a mandatory option instead of BUA (even when not explicitly stated in the rules) and for a while BUAs were only allowed if both players agreed. At the time, those variant rules seemed okay to everyone involved. Similar stuff for some of the Big Battle DBA rules during that period. DS |
