Being some photos of a pair of games set just prior to Caesar's Veni Vidi Vici victory at Zela in 47 BC, fought last Sunday in Essex using the To the Strongest! rules.

Handsome game!

Nice looking game…Bit of a gamble that move on the right flank….

Great spectacle Simon – pikes look so good en masse. Must look closely at your marching fort when I get around to building a camp for Mithridates.

Under Hail Ceasar Roman legionaries would have to be raw to give the poor Pontics a chance!

If Pharnaces is in command of the Pontics, shouldn't those pikemen be imitation legionaries, or maybe even tribal foot?

But it does look great by the way.

I am in the process of planning the phalanx part of my Pontic army.

Looks great, not so sure about cards on table though.

Thanks chaps!

Yes they probably should be imitation legionaries rather than pike, but not certainly and I don't have any ILs. ;-)

For those who don't like cards, my MDF chits work very well. They are are very much less visible. :-)

Lovely looking pike phalanxes. Makes a very impressive battle line.
