Anyone have a line on a rule set for WWI Skirmish games? I've been told Force on Force is good and pursing that as well but any other suggestions? Thanks |

Trench Wars gives simple, fast, and bloody games. |

The TFL one is the best I've seen. Lots of detail, lots of talk about how different armies fought and very nice rules. |

I use Force on Force for all 20th century skirmish games. |

If you're interested in "Through the Mud and the Blood" it's available in print in the US at: link PDF format at: link and PDF Supplements link and: link The TFL Christmas Special 2014 includes a WW1 version of Chain of Command and a "Pint Sized Campaign". "Cocking Up Through the Mud and the Blood: A Great War version of Chain of Command. Kaiserschlacht 1918: A complete Great War "Pint-Sized" campaign" link I'm about to begin building forces for these rules. Have fun with whichever rule set you choose. |

It depends on how you define a skirmish game. I'm looking for a game of about 70-150 figures a side. I have Through the Mud and Blood but haven't played it yet. I Also have Contemptible Little Armies, just bought it this weekend. Tried Price of Glory this weekend, but I think that we need a better balanced scenario to see how it works, but it seems like it will work. I had heard that Trench Wars needs lots and lots of figures as it is a very bloody game where you pick up handfuls of figures at a time. Now I am looking for rules for the Balkan Wars in 1912 and 1913 so it is a bit different, but not very much. |

Thanks everyone for your replies. I usually like to play between 50-100 plus figures. Gives you a nice flow when I've played. Looks like I need to do read over them. I think rules covering WWI can be used for both pre years and post WW1. |
